Regular meetin� of the Board of Public Safety was held on
Monday, June 13, 1938, at 9:OQA. M. A],l member were present.
Minutes of the previous meetin� were read and �pproved.
Claims from the follo�ving suppliers in the amount of �45.9�3 were

FIRE DEPARTiui�,'�TT * Chief Freeh present:
The Chief reported that the services of Cleon Fox during
his probationery period �ndir_g June 16, have been satisfactory
and he recommends that he be placed on the Fire Department pay- .
roll permenently. Upon regular motion, seconded and carried,
instructians were gieen accordin�ly.
� ELECThICI�L DEP�RTMENT * Mr. �ualls present:
Matters pertaining to the Electrical Department were discussed
with Mr.�,ualls.
POLICE DEPARTI4i�NT * Chief Lane present:
The Chief submitted cleims made by Dr. H. H. Rodin for serv-
' ices rendered Opficer Fred Hammer duri.ng his illness early in the
year. After fullv discussing this matter it was regularly moved,
seconded anc3 carried that the cZ�im be paid to Dr. Rodin in the
arnount of �50.QC.
Traffic Fhgir.eer rMliller reported upon a request of F. H. Negley,
President of Epvrorth Hospital, requesting th at stop signs be pl�ced
at h7air. and Navarre, making �iain Street a through street. In his .
recommendation, Pdr. PJliller also recommended that the same action be
taken reg�rding Nlain Street and Bartlett. Upcn regular motion, secon-
ded and carried, this was approved and in�truction� were given to
place the stop signs accordingly.
�dr. Niller al�o reported upon traYfic signals being placed at
Lincoln Vday V�est and 4'lilli�s Street, which had been in operation for
just one year and gave a report of the accident experience and sug-
gested that the location of signals be improved by changing signal
fac�s fron "too far" indications to "ne�r right" and"�'ar l�eft" i�.di- '
c�tions. T�is matter was referred to l�r. ihhn. Qualls for investigation
and report.
Pdr. Miller reco�unended that Sherman Avenue between Oak Street
and Lincoln ti'Pay Wlest be restricted to parkin� on the east sic�e c� the
street� invrhich recommendation the Board concurred and orderad that
the recommendation be carried out.
Traffic Engineer Niller bubmitted a plan offered by H, L. Hor�beck
of the Bendix Home Appliance Co�pany with reference to parking, which

plt�n is on file. The Board, however, recommended" that the same regula- ��
tion be adopted in this area as is novl established at the Bendix Car- �
buretor Company. Mr. Miller was so notified.
� Traf�ic Engineer Miller reported that the Brehmer Eleetrie Company
of 502, E. LaS�ll.e �treet want to establish a loading zon e on. the east
side oP their. Niles �venue property. The Board after considering this
matter fully approved this loading zone and Mr.Miller was ordered to
esta.blish it.

Mr. Burns submitted a report of the aetivities of his Dep�rtment for
the week ending June 11, showing 1�9 inspections made, which report is
on file. in the office of the Boerd o�' Public �afety.
