t=io»�r,y period as a CitT� Fir�:~nan and havi�i� proven him�elf capable in
every respect, it zs recommended that he oe placed on the Fire Dep�rt-
ment pa,yroll as a permanent mem�er, ef'f'ecti�re �ipril l, .1938. It ;r���s .

recom.mendation be concurr•ed in. :- .
• The Chief reported th�t FirEman: Gust Giede na-r��g had conducted
himsel� in a manr_er unbecoming to a member of the Fire UepGrtraent of
the City, and after a lon� discussion dnd an exa?nination of I��r. Giede,
it ���as re�;ul�rly r,�oved, seconded and carried that he be suspended from
pay 1'or a period of thirty days from A�ril lst to kpril 3�th and that
he be automatically reinstated at t'�ie end of that period if his con-
ciuct has been satisfactory to the chief.

Surety Bond in �avor of'�`�illi�m J. McP,'Iahon as S�ecial P�lice 0�'ficer
for the Oliver Hotel �rr�s ap��roved.
A Special Of.f_icer' s Comr.nission was a?��roved in favor of Paul ivelson
as a Tv�erc]lant Policeman to take the nlace of l�iton Tsciiida, resigned.
The �c,uestion of' harboring unfortun�tes in the basement of Cit.y Hal1
o�rer nighi., vaas brought up and the Cnisf was recuested to di�co�tir_ue tier-
mittin_� them to sleep in the rooms at the v��est end of tne basement and to
endeavor to make some otner arran�;er�ents v�hereby ti�ey can be taken care
