Regular meeting of the 'Board of Yublic �afety was heid on NTond�.y
February 28, 1938 at S:QO A. M. All �embers were present. ,
Minutes of �the previaus meetin; were read and appraved.
1 Claims in the amount of �68. 72 fram the follovring su�pliers were
anproved and ordered paid:

A committee of automobile dealers was present and asked for. the priv-
ilege o�' parking overtime an iViichigan �treet on Saturday, March 5, in co-
operation v��.th a natioi�al movement to sell used cars. The coinmittee was
informed that the State Highv�ray �ommission control parKing .on Sta+e High-
tivays, and were advised to obtain permission from that Cormnission and
that the Board of Public Safety would caogerate.
The r�atter of ec�uzppin� alI city-ovin,ed truc�ss with directional sig-
nals and flares was brought up and the Board instructed the 61erk to
take the matter up with the State officials to ascertain_ if the city-o•✓�m-
ed vehicles �Tere not exempt, and also to ascertain if State riig hway ve-
hicles are required to carry the same signals.
FIRE DEPAFcTiJIEIVT - Chief Freeh present:
The Chief brought up the question of parking on LaSaILe Court and
offered �the' suggestion that parking shot�ld be I.imited to one side only
as this is a narroUv street and by parking. on both sides. a direc� fire
hazard was created. The matter was referred to the City Traffic Engin-
eer, Ern est Miller, for investigation and report.
The Chief reauested the privile�e of purchasing an �ir grease gun
f�r lubricating fire equinment. kuthority for this purchase x�as given
to the Chief.
He also stated that the eguipment at 1VO. 5 Tire Station needed a
new battery, the purchase o� which tvas authoTized.
ELECTRICAL DEPAR'IT�IENT - Mr. �,ualls present:
l�Ir. �,ualls submitted a report of the cost of replacin� o`Ter-head
traffic signals and substitutin� a four-:corner post type af the three-
lens pattern. This reoo�t wus submitted to Traffic Eagineer Miller.
P�LICE D�E'ARTi�TE�Ti T - Chief Lane present: . .
The Chief brought in resi�nations af Officer Vt�n. J. McNahon, to take
effect Idarch I5, 1938. The period from T�arch 1 to 15 beinb considered
as Officer Mer,2ahon's vacation period for the year 1938. The resignation
was accepted.
Continuation Certificates covering Surety Bonds �or the folloi^�ing
Police ��ficers v�ere approved an d placed wit.h the original Bond:

Sergt. Burns and Offic+er Campbell requested the Board tc�uthorize the
purchase of a suitable badge for re�ired policer�en. The matter v���s referred
to the City Controller and the �ecretGry of the B::ard to investigate and
re_r,ort.
