Mr. Burns submitted his report of the operations of his
department for the week ending December 4th, showing 239 inspections
made, which report is on file in the office of the Board of Public
Safety.

1�EETING December 13, 1937
Regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on
Monday, December 13, 1937, at 8:45 _A. P�I. All members were present.
ndinutes of the previous meeting were re�d and approved.
Requisitions in the Police Department numbers 968 to 983 and
in the Fire Department numbers 03931 to 03939, inclusive, were
anproved. Claims in the amount of �1,110.q6, from the fbllowing
suppliers, were approved and ordered paid. Payroll of the various
departments amounting to �38,223.48 was approved �nd ordered paid.

FIRE DIl'ART�JIENT - Chief Freeh present:
The Chief reported that on responding to an alarm on December 5th,
Engine No. 6 in leaving the Statian skidded into a parked automobile
belonging to Beulah Young. The Board autharized the necessary expense
- of repairs, amounting to �8.90.

Mr. Qualls submittsd the report for November o�' the radio system,
a copy of v��hich is on file in the office o� the Board of Public
Safety and a copy furnished each me:nber of the Board.
pOLICE DEPARTI�ENT - Chief Lane present:
A propos�l from Scherman-Scha.us-Freeman Company for new cars
for 1938 was submitted and the m�tter was taken under advisement until
further investigation could be made. The most favored proposition by
the Chief was Proposal No. � far

A communication tivas received from City Traffic Engineer P.Ziller
advising that one year had ela?�sed since the left turn green arrow
was installed at Vdestern Avenue and �4alnut Street and that a one
hundred percent reduction of accidents at thAt turn had been
experienced. He f'urther called attentian to the increase in aceidents
at this intersection, due to right angle and rear end collisions, as
well as right turn, which he stated could only be reduced by more
rigid enforcement. After discussing this matter u�ith the Chief, he
v�as requested to give this intersection, as v�rell as others of the same
type in the City, special attention.
