MEETING November 1, 1937 �
Regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on �
Monday, November l, 1937, at 9:00 A. M. All members were present.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Requisitians in the Police Department numbers 908 to 920 and
in the Fire Department numbers 03878 to 03884, inelusive, were
approved. Claims, from the following suppliers, in the amount of
�321.46 were approved and ordered paid.

It was regularly moved, second�ed and carried that the appoint-
ments made by Mayor Freyermuth on VUednesday, October 27, 1937, be
approved, due to the resignation of Frsd �'uoodward as Controller,
as follows:
Charles F. Zillmer - Controller
Mrs. Fred Woodward - Deputy Controller
FIRE DEPAR.TMIlVT - Chief Freeh present:
The Chief was given permission to purchase chairs for the
dormitory in Fire Station No. 2, also to purchase two vapor nozzles
for fighting smoke fires.
The matter of use of' the basement in Fire Station No. 2 for a
police riPle range was discussed with the Chief and it was decided
to allow the Police Department the use of this space for this purpose.
ELECTRICAZ DEPARTMFNT - Mr. Qu�zlls present:
Matters pertaining to the operation of the Electric�l Department
were discussed with Mr. Qualls.
POLICE DEPARTMIlVT - Chief Lane present:
The Chief reported that -the request f'or a police officer to be
stationed at Broadway and PQain Streets between 5:00 and 5:30 each
evening while Studebaker Factories are running would be complied
with and necessary instructions have been given.
Continuation certificate covering �surety bond in favor of
Sergeant Claude E. Keller was approved by the Board.
Mr. Francis J. Bock submitted his monthly report of the South
Bend-P,1lishawaka Police Radio Station for the month of October, � copy
of this report was furnished each member of the Board.
WEIGHTS 8c MEASURES D�ARTME'�iT - Mr. Burns present:
Tdr. Burns submitted his report of the operations of his depart-
ment for the week ending October 20th, showing 181 inspections made.
This report is on file in the office of the Board of Public Safety.
The meeting adjourned at 10:00 A. M.
