PJIEETING September 20, 1937
Regular meeting of' the Board of Public Safety was held on T�iond�y,
September 20, 1937 , at �:OG �, 1��. �11 mer,ibers were present.
Mir_utes of the previous meeting were rea_d and a.pproved.
Requisitions in the Police Department numbers 823 to 855 were
approved, also in the Fire Department numbers 03835 to 03843,
inclusive. Claims in the amount of �286 .04, from the following
suppliers, were approved and ordered paid.

.. T+�r. Qu�_lls re�orted the pro�ress that has been made in installing
the traffic signals on Lincoln ti'�ay Vuest and stated that the inter-
section of Cushing St.�eet ti-ould be completed within a fe�v days and
that Blaine hvenue intersection �^rould be started at once.
i�Ir. �,ualls submittea a request from Radio Operator FrGncis Bock
to attend convention of kssociated Police Communication Officers in
Ne�^:l York City on October llth to 14th. A�'ter viev�-ing the financial
situation, the Board aecided that funds �re not available for this
purpose and Mr. Bock was so notified through Mr. �,ualls.
FIRE DEPARTMEIVT - Chief Freeh present:
The Chief reported on the operation of hi� departMent durin�
the past v��eek.
Rieha_rd L'�zck was appointed on the Fire Departnent for duty
beginning October lst, subject to physzcal examination by the Police
Doctor and passing by the Fire Departmer_� Pension Doctor, also subjeet
to appoir_tment by the Fire Chief.
Application for position on the Fire Depa_rtment was received fro�
rm�ett F. Campbell and ordered placed on file.
POLICF DEPA.FcTP�iiENT - Chief Lane present:
Mr. Gill of Giil-Varn Chevrolet, Inc. was �resent and o�'�'ered
to furnish the City, �vithout expense, a netiv Chevrolet Accident Car
to replace the one noi�; in use and which ti^�as donated to the City a
year ago. This offer was made subject to the san.e conditions as
that of last year. The Board accepted the offer.
Traffic �gineer Nliller reportea that the situation at Angella
Boulevard and U.S. Highway 31, v;�here trees were obstructing traffic
signs, had been well t�ken care of by the University of Notre Dame.
: The Studebaker Corporation made a reruest f'or special police
o�'ficers commissions for tne follotiving employees of the CorPor�;tion:
