Mr. .Anderson tivas absent. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Requisitions in the Fire Department numbers 03787 to 03792 and in the Police Departr,�ent numbers 764 to 782, inclusive, were approved. I5.00 FIRE D�PARTMENT - Chief Freeh present: Matters pertainin, to the oneration of the Fire Department were discussed with the Chief. ELFCTRICAL DEPARTMENT - l+dr. Qualls �resent: r�iatters pertaining to the operation of the Electrical Department were discussed with It�r. �ualls. Communic�tion was received from a conmittee o� employees of the Electrical Department, requesting the Board to si{�n a Resolution requiring the employees to wear a uniform of their own selection on which shall be displayed the proper insignia ot' the department and changing the name of the department to the Signal Service Department. After f�.ill consideration of this r�atter, the Board decided that there would be no objection to the employees of the Electrical Departnent purchasing and wearin� uniforms at their own expense if they desire to do so, but that there would be no change in the style of the dep�rt?nent. Members oP the committee were so notified. A communication was submitted by hir. �,ualls from T. J. Slovrie, Secretary of the rederal Communications Commission, in whieh was stated that upon inspection of Police Radio Station WPGN it was found that no satisfaetory provision was arranged for checking frequency. Mr. Qualls reported that he had had a quotation from the R. C.A. Manufacturing Company of �570.15 for the necessary equipment. No definite action could be taken at this time. The natter tivas referred to the r,�ayor and City Attorney. POLICE DEPARTI4�ITT �- Assistant Chief Diedrich present: Vacancies on the Police Depart�ent caused by the death of Arden 'r�line and Clyde Wilson were filled by the Board in the appointment of V��illiar� C. Cholasinski and Leonard Krule��Jitch to begin service at' once, the latter having been appointed tne previous v�eek but no definite date of employment given. These officers are appointed sub�ect to assignment by the Chief of Police and to be on probation for six months, also subject to ph3�sical egamination by the Police Surgeon and Pension Physician. Applications for position on the Police Departr�ent v��ere received from Niilo r. Cool �nd John Suto. Question of status of Officer Casimir Luczny, who was reouested • to resign was discussed and it was decided by the Board that he shall not be re-ins-tated i�ntil a �vritten report of his physical condition shall be t'urnished by the Police Physician. �28 � ��� �y� . � � It was decided by the Board �that due to exceptional service rendered ' by Police ;Noman Minnie Evans she shall be permitted to retain her police badge No. 65 as a memento, a new bad�e to be purenased for the nev,r Police VJoman.
