MEETING March 22, 1937
Regul�r meeting of the Board o�' Public Sefety was held on Monday,
March 22, 1937, at 9:OG A. M. All members were present.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Claims in the amount of' �463.86, f'rom the follo��ving suppliers,
Uiere approved an.d ordered paid, also payroll. in the various departments
amounting to �19,081.E6. Requisitions in the Police Dep�rtment
nunbers �83 '�0' 494, inclusive, and iri the Fire Department nurnbers
03669 to 03674, inclusive, were approved.

FIRE DEPARTP�IFNT - Chief Freeh pre�ent:
The Chief reported that Firem�n Steve Gorka, after having been
tre�ted in the hospital for several months and was released, was again
returned for further diagnosis and treatment: Further report regarding
his condition will be made later.
The Chief reported that on March 19th Fireman Albert Kraszewski .
was struck by a moving automobile at the intersection of Brookfield� ` �
Street and Lincoln Vvay ltiest. L�e to the fact that this acciaent
occurred on the fireman's day aff: the Chief was instructed to
in�estigate circuristances further. �
FLECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - Mr. C�ualls present:
Matters pertaining to the aperation of the Electrical Department

POLICE DEPAFiT1t2ENT - Chief Lane present:
Officer Miller made a report regarding cor�nunication received
from C. H. Shupe vrho appealed to the Board for construction of
pedestrian tunnels on the main corners of the downtown section.
Officer Nliller's very comprehensive repo�rt is on file in the office of
the Board of Public Safety.
In view of the fact that Officer Iviiller recommends the investi-
g�tion of the advisability of eliminating right turns in the downtown
district during rush hours, fihe Board reouested the Chief to make a
careful survey and report. �
The Board approved clai� of a special nurse �hose services v��ere
used in connection with the armbulance �ccident in whieh Officer Luczny
v�as seriously hurt and instructed the Chief to h�ve the nurse render
her cl.aim at once.
The Board discussed special police commission of Alfred Johnson
who has been the night watchman for the F. S. Fish and Studebaker
estates and waived the necessity of supplying the Board with a surety
bond if his employers tivould flzrnish the City with a letter indemnifying
the�. against any improper action by I�ir. Johnson.
Communication was received from Officer T�iiller recomrnending that
the signs in front of the Oliver Theatre be changed to read "No Parkin�
In Front Of Theatre", which will permit�� parking from the north
line of the Theatre to the alley. - � �
