MEETING March 15, 1937
Regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on
Monday, March 15, 1937, a.t 9:Oa A. , M. All membera were present.
A�inutes of the previous meeting were rend s.nd approved.
Requisitions in the Police Department numbers 474 to 482,
inclusive, were approved: Claims, from the following suppliers, in
the �mmount of �751.49 taTere r�pproved and ordered paid.

After fully considering the matter, the Board decided to accept the
bid of the Seagrave Corporation and executed a contract subject to
the approval of the Common Council.
ELECTRI Cp.L DEPARTD+IENT - Mr. C�u a 11 s p re s ent:
Mr. �,ualls reported in reference to the recommendation of Officer
t�,2iller concerning the tr�ffic signals on Sr�ple Street betv�Teen
LaFayette and P�Zichigan and after considering the matter fully, the
Bo�rd decided to transfer the overhead stop light at Tutt and LaFayette
Street to PJlain and Sample Street and to synchronize the three over-
head signals. Due to the fact that two of these signals are being
operated by the Studebaker Corporation, the Board referred this matter
to n�Tr. Anderson to make sone satisfactory arrangement v�rith the
Studebaker Corporation and the Indiana & T;4ichigan. El.ectric Comp�ny
for payment of the operation of the third signal a�nd to report at the
next meeting.
POLICE DEPARTIvIIIvT - Chief Zane, Officer T�liller a.nd Charles Zillmer
present:
Officer Miller submitted a communication he had addressed to
mersbers of the City Council regardir_g traffic and parking regulation
signs, in which he recommended that to enforce traffic regulations
properly the City should install parking reguZatzon signs and brackets,
and speed limit signs and posts at an approximate e�ense of one
thousr�nd dollars, and cited the fact that revenue from the City Court
had increased and will continue to increase more than sufficient to
cover this expense. Af'ter discussing the matter with the Controlier,
the Board decicted to reouest the Common Council to appropriate this
sus� for this purpose and the City �ttorney was directed to introduce
an Ordinance.

The Morris Plan Bank requested fifteen minute park�.ng restrictions �
in front of their pl�ce of business. This matter was discussed but no
definite action was taken.
The Accident Prevention Bure�u submitted its report for the month
of February, which report is on file in the office of the Board of
Public Safety.
4fficer Miller reported on the parking situation in the 1I00 block
on Grace Street and the 500 block on South Chapin where requests have
been made to discontinue the privilege of Oliver enployees from parking
all day. It was decided to direct a communication to the Oliver Farm
�auipment Company requesting their cooperation.
, Officer Miller retiorted in regard to the _Lyric Theatre at
2220 ti"�estern Avenue th�t according to State I,aw the entrance to this
The�ztre should be restricted from parking.
Communication was received f'rom Captain Harold Y�hitmer in v�rhich
he st�_ted that he was expected to purchase some books to be used in
the training course he is now attending. The Board authorized this
purchase and Officer VJhitmer was so notified.
Application for position an the Police Department was received
from Andrew Vincent Daly and ordered placed on file.

Mr. Burns submitted his report of' the oper�tions of his depart-
ment for the vreek ending March 13th, showing 454 inspections made.
The meeting adjourned at 12 otclock noon.
