Board met in regular session at 9:00 A.M. All members present, City Engineer and Mayor Seebirt present. Petition filed by the New York, Central Rajtlread ,Company ,by Atter Attorney Clements requesting Permission for sidetrack for MoorWTrothers Fruit C• be constructed from the main, tracks of said ratilroad across the alley along an an adjacent to the northeast side of the right of way of satld railroad company an and extending diagonally from Bronson.Street to Carroll Street in this City. Reed: & Sons Contractors at prices bid, Contractors bond of'JOseph Szewda for the sum of 419000.00 approved by the Board., "Contracts for pavement on Main Street from Indiana Avenue to Ewing Avenue and Hine Street from Walnut Street to Studebaker and Bowman Street from Miami Street to Studebaker Park awarded as fllewsi- Concetning the improvement of the roadway of Bowman Street from Miami Street to Studebaker Parl with asphalt, asphaltic concrete, bitulithic , concrete, concrete or brick in pursuance to Resolution No. 994 the Board finds that no petition has been filed with said Board by a ma jortty in number of the freeholders residing on sais street to be improved, requesting that it be improved with a 'different kind of pavement than the kind heretofore adopted, by the Board in its preliminary order; and the City Engineer reports that the White Construction Company is the lowest and best bidder for the kind of pavement heretofore adopted by the Board, and the Board find that the White Construction Co, is the lowest and best bidder and hereby lets the contract for said improvement to them and orders -that said improvement be made with Asphaltic concrete using Mexican Asphalt and all proceedings heretofore had in this matter are hereby confirmed andd approved. Be It Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, St. .Joseph County, State of Indjsanw, that it is desired and deemed necessary to improve Marine Street from Indiana Avenue to Calvert Street , as follows, to -wit:-- Said street shall: be graded and the roadway thereof shall, be paved., and also the roadway of certain portions of the streets and alleys which en -ter d.r inter- sect said street shall be graded and paved. SQU.t;h..C�ri - Limits, Street, by paving the roadway the same, and WHEREAS, the City. Civil Engineer has prepared and filed in the office of this Board a report showing the number and location of the service pipes, mains, conduits, lateral, and connections which are, or will be necessary to accorrrrceate the abutting property and the owners thereof with gas, water., sewer, and other "conveniences and necessaries: and alto said City. Givil Engineer has prepared and filed- in said office. specifications showing the mater'al to be used . and the maner of laying said -service pipes m3in3, conduits, laterals and connections from the mains to the points in- side the curb lines. THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Public Workes of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that the report of the City Civil Engineer. is adopted, and sa'd report ar.d the specificaticr.s prepared and f:IPd by him are made a part of this .resolution as .fully and effectually as if copied herein at full length; and it is fur- ther ordered that all of such private connections with the sewer, gas, and water mains be made in said street by, bringing them inside the curb .lines thereof. I And be it further resolved that notice by publication for two successive days in South Bend N*ws Tints & TribUX& a newspaper of general circulation printed ar d publ shed in the City of. South Bend Indiana, be given to the owners of the property abutting upon said street to be improved directing them to i make such sewer and water connections on or before the — ©the day of Auaust, 1922. 192 —, and that if said connections are not made on or before said time and in accordance with the speci- fications and report on file in the office, of the Board of the Public Works, then said Board will cause the same to be made and will asses the cost thereof against the property abutting upon said street, and shall do all other thing pertaining thereto according to the provisions and requirments cf Ordinance No. 1842 adopted by the Common Council of _ the City of South Bend on July 24, 1916, and cf all other ordinances and law relating thereto.
