MEETING--Mareh 1, 1937 -
Regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on
Monday, March I, 1937, at 9:Od A. M. AII members u;ere present.
Minutes o�' the previous meeting were read and approved.
Requisitions in the Fire Department numbers 03645 to 03649 and
in the Police Department numbers 439 to 454, inclusive, were approved.
Claims in the. amourrt of �94?.17, frnm the follo�ving suppliers, were
approved and ordered paid.

POLICE DEPARTT�E�T� - Chief Lane present:
TYie Chief reported that the establishment of an unloading zone
for The Pie Shop at 202 East Washington Street had been accomplished,
they to furnish the signs, and to be�placed �only when unloading coal.
The Chief reported regarding the situation in the 100 block on
West Monroe Street, stating that one unloading zone had been re-
established �nd one eliminated , in accordance with previous Minutes
and l�r. Seeberger wauld furnish the signs.
The Chief reported regarding the petition o� residents in the
700 block on East �Wen�ger Street and in the 1200 block on High Street,
stating in consultation with� lVlr. Hening it was learned that as soon
as they complete the ne� building now being erected, whieh will be
some time in �Iareh, they vrill provide parking spaee for all of their
� cars. This matter was postponed until April lst for further
investigation.
Officers.. Hansen, Rudynski� and Schuttrow were present at the
meeting and rEquested the privilege of holding a danee for the
Fraternal Order of Police on the 8th of TJIay and of er�ploying Lewis M.
Let�ris to handle the affairs of� a Policenen's l�dovie Ball. The Board
found no objection�. if the affair vras advertised and operated under the
name of the Fraternal Order of Police and referred it to the Chief of
Police for further inve�tigation.
The Chief reported that all ofPicers on the police force with
the exception of Officer Steve Paczesny and police v�oman PJlinnie Evans
had been accepted for the Pension �.i.nd and that W. L. Vt'elch and
Floyd Zellers, nevr officers, would be voted upon at the next meeting.
The Chief reported that O�ficer Peter Rudynski had decided to
continue as instructor of police in the target practice.
The Chief reported that the removal of signs in. the parking area
at filling stations was being accomplished.
Two bids for the v�Tecked police ambulance ti�ere received - that
of the Ben Medow Salvage Company being �21.00 and the ti`dashington
Salvage Company �25.�0. No action was taken.
� Specia3. police commiss�ian tivas issued in favor of Lyle Essex
while v,Torking for the Bendix Products Corporation.
Continuatian certificate in favor of Earl C. Hollis as special
police officer was approved.
� Continuation certificates in favor of the following police
o�ficers were approved and placed with the original bond: Vdilliam J.
Mcl�2ahon, Waclaw E. Chrobot, Beu�amin H. Roberts, Clyde N. Wilson,
Harold C. �Vilson, Lucius LaFortune, Joseph Gembarzewski, I,eo r�Iakowski,
Jo�eph Wroblewski, Thomas Notvak, Arthur M. Campbell, William Million,
J'oseph Laskowski and Levi Nulf.

The Chief submitted specifications for new fire apparatus to be
advertised for at onee and it was regularly moved, seconded and
carried that this be done and bids opened on March 15th.
Application for position as fireman was presented by William F. Brien
and was ordered placed on file.
ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - Mr. Qualls present:
Mr. Qualls, in accorciance with instructions from the Board,
presented a working schedule for the operators in the Electrical
Department, which is as follows: A monthly schedule .effective
March lst. The shift w-orking from 12 midnight to 8 A. M. will change
the following month ta 4 P. M. ta midnight. The shift working from
8 A. M. to 4 P. ��. v��ill change to 12 midnight to 8 A. M. The shift ,
working from 4 P. M. to 12 midnight w3.11 -ch�nge to 8 A. rJl. to 4 P. M.
WEIGHTS & MEASURES DEP!'�RTMIIVT - T�r. Burns present:
Mr. Burns submitted his report of the activities of his depart-
ment for the v�eek ending February 27th, showing 309 inspectians made.
This report is on file in the office of the Board of Public Safety.
The meeting adjourned at 11:30 A. M.
