Mr. VVoodward was absent. Minutes o� the �previous meeting v�rere �read and approved. Requisitions in the Fire Department numbers 03636 to 03638 and in the Police Departnent numbers 415 to° 426 , inelusive, were approved. The matter o�` having th� Police .Doctar examine enployees• of the. , Electrical Departr�ent°who report on the sick list was discussed and it was decided �o� notify Dr. Thon�s B, Pauszek to examine such � employees upon request oP Mr. �ualls, the Superintendent of the depart- r.�ent. Mr. Qualls stated that some- �f the �employees in the Fleetr3.cal Department had re9uested� that the hours of veork be scheduled, so that a rotation of service- tre observed. The Board favored such an. arrange- nent and requested Mr. C�ualls to make up a schedule for f'urther consideration. POLICE DEPARTMF�iT - Chief Lane present: A representative of The Pie Shop, 202 East Washington Avenue, requested that certain� parking restrictions bs established in front of their place of business�. The�matter was referred to Officer E. H. �Iiller of the Traffic Bureau for investigation and report. The Chief reported that� police commission in favor oP Rocco Simeri had been recalled. and that his badge vJauld be returned by Mr. Simeri. personally. � The matter� of purchasing additional iron claws for the Po].ice Department was discussec� and �t v,�as decic�ed- t��purchase six sets at this time. - Regarding the eliminatian of parking on the north side of Colfax Avenue from the� east end of the bridge to Michigan Street, the Board decided to instruct�� the ChieP of Police to begin the execu-tion of this order at once. Officer P,lliller� reported upon the petition of A. A. Schellinger, manager of the Washingto�r-ColPax Apartments, who requested establish- ment of a loading zone on Colfag Avenue and on Washington Street in front of their entrances. Due to the fact that no signs are available, the Board felt that curb marki.ng, which is no�v established, should be enough to give the ocv�ers of the buildin� necessary parking restric- tions. - Officer r�iiller� called� attention to the new location of the Arcade Fruit Market. It is their desfre to �have fi�teen minute parking signs in front of their place of ��business; using those at their former gddress. Due to the faet that� signs� use�d° at the former address also served two other stores� at that location; Offic�r Miller recommended � that they be not moved: Officer Miller repnr�Ced that we have no $6 . _ �� �� � � � fifteen minute parking �signs on hand at present, so the Board decided that if the Arcade Fruit Market would provide the signs they could be placed by themselves. Officer Miller called attention to intersectiQn of Washington Avenue and Chagin Street� where� several accidents �have occurred during the past year. He recommended that a stop sign be placed on Chapin Street on ti'�'ashington. The Board gave its approval and Officer Millex was instructed to install same. Communication was receivEd�� from Julius� Seeberger regarding the parking situation in the,100 block on� ��iest Monroe Street. This � matter v�ras referred to the �hief of Police for investigation and recommendation. . The Board discussed with the Chief the matter of Palice Department employees. applying for pensian.. ��'e now have three members of the dep�rtnent who are not on the pension, namely; Leo Bern.sr, Steve Paczesny and 1Vlinnie Evans: The Chief was �nstructed� to see that these are placed on pension by the proper procedure and to report at the next meetir_g. � Applic�tion for position as pol3ce woman was filed by Nalia Vera Sw3hart Priddy and was ordered placed on file. ` : WEIGHTS 8c MEASiTRES DEPART1t2F�TT - I�r.
