The Chiei' brought in t��o gas masks to demonstrate their use �nd
indicated that some repairs `vere necessary, �^��hich the Board authorized.
POLICE DEPARTPJILNT - Chief Lane present:
There bein� a vacanc.y on tlie Police DePnrtzuent, tne Board
�ppointed D�niel J. �eogan to police duty beginning Februury lst,
subject to phfsicr�l examination �nd p�ssinJ by the Police Doctor and
a_ssignment as to duties by the Chief of Police, and six montns �robation.
The Cler.k U;as instructed to secure bids on the ttirecked volice
�.btilance. T�.'Ir. J. F. ' Burkey o�' kuburn, Indiana, dealer in second-hand
vehicles, Ur�s ir the City •and offered the Bo�sd a second-hand Auburn �
tv:�elve c,ylinder arnbulance at a price of w950.00. The Bo�rd tooK this
matter under advisement and had t�ie ar.ibulance thorou;nly cnecked as
to mechanical deficiencies by tne Studebaker Corpor:�tion ann the Bendix
Produ.cts Corpor«tioiz, �vho reported it to be in splendid condition and
not only tnat but shotx�ed no evidence of naving been in trouble or in
a �^�reck. After fully considering the m�.tter, I�lr. Burl�ey n�ving
delivered a clear title, tne Board authorized the purchase and instruct-
ed t�e 1'.'ater ti"�orks to repaint the equipment and see th�t it is placed
ip service at �he e�:rliest 1�ossible rno�ent.
The Chiez" reported 'naving interviev,-ed Rocco Simeri regurding his
police co��ission and the Bo�.rd fi��ll;� decided not ta renez�� tnis
coz�missio� and instruc�ed tne Chief to recall the com�lission �nd th�
badge ti=;hich ���as issued to i:�r. Simeri.
Commu_nication �ti�as received from Gill-tiTorn Chevrolet, Tnc.
recuesting that special nolice comr.iissio:l be issued to i,,2r. Don Gray
in their em�loy. The Bo�.rd decided not to issue ttlis comrsission �nd
tn.e applic�,nt tivas so notified,

The Bo�rd considered f�vor��bly the rec;uest of Oi'ficer Casir�ir
=Gu�nf t�� renlace his uniiorr�. and ca� v,hicn t�:ere ruined at the time of
the accident to the ��bulance. The Clerk �v�,s instructed to order tnis
unizorr:i u�t once, i^:hicn t��as done.
