MEETING September �l, 1936
Regular 'meetirig of �the Board of Publie Safety tivas held on Monday,
September 21, I936, at 9:15 A. M. All members j�aere present. _
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Requisitions in the Fire Department numbers 03505, 03506 and 03507
and in the Board of Safety numbers 166 and I.67 were approved by . the
Board. Claims , .from the folZowing suppliers, in the amount of �645.58
were approved and ordered paid, also payroll of the various departments
amounting to �17 ,028.89.

FIRE DEPARTPJ�NT - Ghief Freeh present:
The Board requested the Chief to investigate the possibility of
firemen doing traffic duty at some of the public schools during the
hours oP greatest activity on the streets.
Applieations for position on the Fire Department were filed by
Glenn Edward It�iller and Alton G. Wirick.
ELECTRIC?�L DEPARTII�NT - Mr. �,ualls present:
Matters pertaining to the operation of the Electrical Department
were discussed with �r. Q,ualls.
A communication was received from the City of Davenport , Iowa
announcing the Third National Convention of Associated Police
Communication Officers and requesting that a representative be present.
This matter was disaussed with Mr. Qualls, and it vras decided to send
Franais Bock of the Radio Department to this Convention, the City to
pay the necessary expenses.
Mr. 9ualls reported the oost of installation of traffic signal
at Western Avenue and Main Street, which was torn dovm in an accident
on September 2nd. The Clerk was instructed to notify the offender and
collect the aost.
�JEIGHTS & BI�ASURES DEP�RTMENT - P:'Ir• Burns present:
1�Sr. Burns reported the activities of his department for the
preceding s�eek, sho�ing 296 inspections made , which report is on Pile
in the office of the Board of Public Safety.
POLICE DEPARTI�NT - Assistant Chief Diedrich present;
The Marsh Realty Company of 514 ��est Colfax Avenue complained
about oars being parked in front of their place of business and

Speoial police commission in favor of SFJilliam J. Bickel for the
Bendig Produats Corporation was approved by the Board.
Renewal certificate of special police officer's bond in favor of
William H. Spaulding �as approved.
Continuation certificate of �illiam H. Duley, coverin� special
police offiaer' s bond, was received and placed on file.
