Regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety rras held on

Reauisitions in the Fire Department numbers 03449 to 03453 and
in the Yolice Department numbers 58 to 69 , inclusive, v�ere approved.
Claims in �he amount of �487.31, from tue follo�ring suppliers, tivere
approved and ordered paid.

Attorney Chester DuComb cras present at the Board to ascertain the
decision the Board had made in reference to pin ball games in the City,
and tiras advised that definite decision and action v�ould •be continued
until further investi�ation is made in the Prosecuting Attorney' s
office. �
. FIRE DEPARTP��T�IT - Chi ef r reeh pres ent:
In the matter of physical examinations oz members of . the. Fire
De�artment in line iF�ith previous action of the Board, report ��aas
received from the City Sur�eon �rhich iF�as as follovrs:
Ed��rard Tohulka - Tdot recomr�ended on aceount of hi�h blood pressure
and diabetes.
y'lilliam C. Bernhardt - Tdot recomraended on account of hioh blood
pressure , diabetes and enlarged inguinal rin�.
� � Au�ust �Jalinski - I�o recom�endation exceptin� to have re-check
� made by Pension Fund Physician.
�lfred 0. Lentz - 1�0 recommendation excepting to have re-check
made by Pension Fund Physician.
1�iton Sroda - No recommendation excepting to have re-check
made by Pension Fund Physieian.
John Borkoivski - r�o recor:LTnendation exceptin� to have re-check
raade by Pension I�Znd Pnysician.
After fully considering this report, the Board gave instructions to
notif y the first t��ro mentioned to report at the next meeting of the
Board to discuss the question of taking advantage of pension
privileges rather than continuing in the service of the City. The
follotiving letter i�ras �.ritten to each of these firemen:
"The result of your examination by the City Surgeon recently
develops the fact that your physical condition is not such that you
can give the City the best possible service as a fireman.
This �atter ���as carefully discussed by the Board at its last
meeting and it ;�as decided at that time that you be requested to
appear before the Board on i:ionday, July 27th, at 9: 00 A. :��2. f'or the
purpose of determinin� ti�hether or not your services should be
continued as a fire7��an or if it v�ould be best for you to take
advantage of your pension privileges to �hich you are entitled."
The last four mentioned �rere reouested to report to the Pension
Physician, Dr. R. L. Sensenich for re-check. The folloyrinJ letter
r,as directed to the�:
�'The result of your examination by the City Sur�eon, Dr. Pauszek,
sho�red some irregularities in your physical condition, and after
thorou�hly considering the matter the Board d.ecided to request you to
have a further check made by Dr. R. L. Sensenich, I'ension Physician.

ELECTRICAL DEPARTIt�ENT - . P�r. Qualls present:
Ivir. �;ua11s reported the activities of his department for the
past ti��eek, and stated that he ti�as arranging to erect a" ne�� signal
at the corner of Sample and Felloiys Streets which �ras recently
knocked do�rn by a truek. '
u'TEIGHTS AND P�ZEASTTr�ES DEPARTIJ�.fiTT - Tv2r. Burns present:
P�Zr. Burns made his report of inspections made during the past
ti�veek, shoti�ing the number of inspections to be 330, rvhich report is
on file in the office of the Board of Public Safety.
POLIC� DEP�Ti�T�7T - Chief Lane present:
The f'ollowin� officers appeared before the Board in reference
to their physieal condition and each ��ras inclividually examined by
the Board, after tvhich it ti;�as decided to ��ithhold definite action
re�arding placing these officers on pension until further investi-
gation could be made in consultation iFaith the P,iayor: Samuel
Koczorotivski , r'rank s�endo��aski , Valent ine Delinski , I'rank r erger and
Justus C. Bloom. •
The S'later �lorks �arage foreman submitted a report of the cost
of maintenance oP police cars f or a three month period ending
June 30th, shot��ing that the average cost for the second three
months ��as :�2.84 per mile as compared vrith �3.08 for the first
three months. Report is on file in the office of the Board of
Public Safety.
Applications for position on the Police Department ti�ere
presented by Soseph r. Tasicki , Theodore ���olter and �lendell Illes.
