This neetin set for this date on ccount of Mgmorial Day coming on Tuesday y 30th., 1922, a regular meeting day. Attorney S. Crumpacker appeared before the Board in regard to an acce Lance to Ordinance No. 2127 and same was approved by the Beard and to be attache to and made a part of Ordinance No. 2127, on file in the Oity Clerk's office. South Bend, Indiana, Au ust 1921. TO THE BOARD. OF PUBLIC WORKS, OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND: This Indenture witnesseth; That the Pittsburg, Cincinnati,_ Chicago ,and St. Louis Railroad Company does hereby accept and agree to abide by and conform to the Provisions contained in Ordinance #2127, passed by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiama, on November 8th., 19201, and approved by the Mayor of said City on November 12th., 1920 and which is recorded in Ordinance Record #5>at page 362 of the Ordinance ,Records of said City, which Ordinance authorities the construction of additional tracks across Lafayette Boulevard Franklin Street and the first alley west of Franklin Street in said City and the relocation of two catch basins, all for accommodation of the traffic of said railroad. > In Witness Whereof the said Railroad Company has caused it's name to be signed hereto by it's duly Authorized officers the day and date above written. Lippman appeared before the Board and requested that the 1st, alley eaatotrAfain Street between Colfax Avenue and La Salle Avenue be opened up also east and west alley between Michigan Street and Main Street. This matter referred to the Building Commissioner for investigation and report. Petitions for change of type of pavement on Sycamore Street from Colfax Avenue to LaSalle Avenue, also Michigan Street from South line of Donmoyer Avenue to South City Limits., In regard to petition for Sycamore Street property owners requested said pavement be put in with concrete, Also Michigan Street majority petition requesting that concrete be put in instead of a sphalticconcrete , The Board after considering said petitions and hearings parties present interested in same awarded entreat to Hoban & Roach for contra t on Sggamore Street and deferred action on Michigan Street until Wednesday May 31st.9 1922 at 7:15 P.M. > Concerning the improvement of the roadway of Sycamore Street from Colfax Avenue to La Salle Avenue in pursuance to Resolution No. 953, the petition of freeholders residing on said street is considered, and the report of the Qity Engineer is received and all evidence is hear4 and the Board finds that said petitioners constitute a majority in number of the freeholders residing upon said street to be improved, that said petition is sufficient and it'is therefore considered, and adjudged that said improvement be made with concrete, the kind of pavement requested in said petition; and the City Engineer reports that Hoban & Roach is the lowest and best bidder for said kind (fpavement, and the Board so finds, d,hd lets the contract for said improvement to him, and orders said smprovement to be made with concrete and all proceedings heretofore had in this matter are hereby confirmed and ratified,- - L.-B. Concerning the improvement of the oadway of Irvingtmn Avenue -from Michigan Street to Fellows Street with asphalt, asphaltic concrete, bitulithie, concrete or brick in pursuance to Resolution No. 954 the Board finds that no petition has been filed with -said Board'by a majority in number of the freeholders residing on said street to be improved, requestng that it b.e improved with a fifferent kind of pavement than the kind heretofore adopted by the Board in its preliminary order; and t the City Engineer reports that the -.White Construction Co. is the lowest and best bidder for the kind of pavement heretofore adopted by the Board, and tke Board find that the White Construction Co. is the lowest'and best bidder alnd hereby lets the contract for said improvement to hhem and orders that said improvement be made with asphaltic concrete with Mexican Asphalt and all proceedings heretofore had in this matter are hereby confirmed and ratified. Concerning the improvement of the roadway of Donald Street from Miami Street to Leer Street with.asphalt, asphaltic concrete, tritulithic, concrete - or brick, in pursuance to Resolution No. 953, the Board finds that no petition has beE been filed with said Board by a majority in number of the freeholders residing y on said street to be improved, requesting that it be improved with a different ]find of pavement than the kind heretofore adopted by the Board ixt its preliminary order; and the City Engineer reports that the Williston Construction Company is the lowest and best bidder•for the kind of pavement heretofore adopted by the Board, and the Board find that the Williston Construction Co. is the lowest and best bidder and heret lets the contract for,said improvement to the^, and orders that said improvement be made with Asphaltic concrete using Mexican Asphalt and all proceedings heretofore had in this matter are hereby confirmed and ratified, L. Concerning the improvement of the roadway of Alley between Portage Avenue and Ashland Avenue from Rex Street to Portage Court with asphalt asphaltic concrete, bitulithie, concrete or brick in pursuance to Resolution No. �60 the Board finds that no petition has been filed with said Board by a majority in number of the freeholders residing on said street to be improved, requesting that it be improved with a different kind of pavement than, the kind her4rtffore adopted by the Board in its preliminary order; and the City Engineering Dept. reports that Manx H. N. Barnes is the lowest and best bidder forthe kind of pavement heretofore adopted bybthe Board, and the Board find that H. N. Barnes is the lowest and best biddet and hereby_ lets the contract for said improvement to them and orders that said improvement be --made with concrete and all proceedings heretofore had in.this matter are hereby confirmed and ratified. Concerning the improvement of the roadway of alley in Kiefer's & CoEb's Avenue from Colfax Avenue to Cottage Grove Avenue with asphalt, asphaltic concrete, voncrete, or brick in pursuancer to Resolution No. 955 the Board finds that no peititon hasbeen filed with said Board by a majority in number of the freeholders resideg-on said street to be improved requesting that it be improved,with a different kind of pavement than the kind heretofore adopted by the Board in its preliminary order; and the City Engineer reports that N. N. Barnes it the lowest and best bidder for the kind of pavement heretofore adopted bybthe Board and the Board find that said H. N. Barnes is the lowest and best bidder and hereby lets said eon - tract for said improvement to him, and orders that sdad improvement be made with concrete avementgand all proceedings heretofore had in this matter are hereby con- firmed and ratified.
