MEETING Mareh 2, 1936
Regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on P�Tonday,
1'�arch 2, I936, a� 9:30 A. M. Al1 members vaere present.
1�2inutes of previous meeting were read and approved.
Requisitions in the Board of Public Safety nu�bers 08895 to
08906, inclusive, were anproved, also requisitions from the Fire
Department numbers 03301 � 03308 and from 0331 to 03318, inclusive.
Claims in the amount of :�100.82, from the following suppliers, were
approved and oxdered paid.

FIRE DEPARTMENT - Chief Freeh present:
In a communication the Fire Chief reported that firemen now on
probation, namely Guy Gilligan, Roland Miller, Raymond �cCallum and
Russell Hoffman, are progressing satisfactorily and are improving in
their p�ork and that the Captains of the Engine Companies where they are
employed so report.
The Fire Chief reported that he required some equipment for the
emergency outfit in the way of a new saw and �ack. The Board author-
ized him to purchase this equipment as economically as possible.
The Chief was authorized to purchase a set of tires £or the
equipment at No. 11 Hose House.
Application for position on the Fire Department was received from
Joseph ti`Jalter Kring and ordered placed on file.
POLICy DEPAR'I'1��ENT -
The Chief of Police being called to the Court House to testify
in a case pending there , matters pertaining to the Police Department
were postponed until the next regular meetin�.
The following special police officer' s bonds �rere approved by the
Board and filed in eonnection with special police commission for eae�i
ofPicer: Harvey 0. Miller, Blase T�Zakielski , tirl. ti`T. �IcCorkle , 4lilliam C.
Pdyers, Thomas Helpenstine, Lyle g. Essex, John Docherty, Frank L.
Bo�ven, Beuford Su1t, Julius Schulz, Edgar 0. Prange, Curtis G. Pruett ,
Elmer B. Raines, Earl Scherer and Paul L. ti`lilliams.
The following bonds for regular police officers ��ere approved and
placed on file: Lucius LaFortune, Leo Makowski , ��illiam �Zcll2ahon,
Thomas Nowak and Jose?�h ti7roblewski.
Continuation certifieates on police bonds for the following
officers were approved and attached to ori�inal bond: Arthur P1i.
Campbell, 4'l. E. Crobot , Joseph Gembarzevrski , Joseph J. Laskowski ,
�illiam I:iillion, �dward ��Ioritz, Levi Nulf, Ben Roberts , Clyde N.
�ilson and Harold C. ��ilson.
A communication from the ll�ayor, setting forth the fact that it
is necessary for all police officers to be able to make proper reports
of accidents or arrests, was received and requested that procedures
and certain questions be formulated upon �rhich each of'ficer is to be
examined. Due to the absence of the Chief, this matter was postponed
until the next regular meeting of the Board.
Communication vras received from the Indiana Bell Telephone
Company advising that they will comply with the request of the Board
to install direct lines to the Police Department. The communication
set forth the fact that this matter would be brought to the attention
of the Board on or before November l, 1936.
' �ipplications for position on the Police Department were received
from P3ichael John Buczolich and Joseph ti"dalter Kring. These were
ordered placed on file.

ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - Mr. �
Qualls present:
P�r. �7oode�ard brought up the matter of police call located on the
LaSalle Hotel building and, after a diseussion of tne matter, t+�r. �ualls
�aas instructed to investigate and to make recommendation for chan�e
of location, due to inconvenience and annoyance to Hotel guests.
The meeting adjourned at 10:00 A. M.
