A special meeting oi the Board of Public Safety �ras held on
Saturday, T�Zarch 11, 1944 . �11 members ;r�ere present. The meeting tivas
called for the purpose of considerin� vacancies on the Fire Depart:nent.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimousl�r carried the followin�
resolution tiras aclopted: Resolved: that Lieutenant Peter Piechorovrski
havinJ withdrawn from the Fire Depar•t�ent because of ph;�sical disa�ilit;�
the ���oard h��eby appoints Frank Florkoz�sl�i as a Lieutenant in the Depart-
ment, effective l�arch 16, 1944. Because of the continued illness of
Cap�ain Charles Rupe, Joseph Baran� is appointed acting Lieutenant of
the rire Department, effective immediately, and subject to orders b�
the Chief.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the

The Fire Chief ��as granted permission to attend a State Fire PrP-
vention T�teetin� in Indianapolis on T.Zarch 14, together v�ith P��ir. ti'dilliar:ls
and T:Tr. Pave�T. ,
Cleon Fo�: tendered his resicnation from the Fire Department, to the
Board, and also a letter fro� his physician stating the fact that ne tivas
still capable of t�ror��ing at other employ�nen�. He also signed a waiver of
the pension fund. A statement of availibility •���as refused him, but he
indicated tha.t he would a-;peal to the United States E�nploS�_ent Service.
