The meeting `�ras called for the purpose of hearin� char�es preferred against two members of the South Bend City Police Department, Homer Ames and Frank Pinterics. It �vas moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the City Attorney be instructed. to prepare charges agains Officers Ames and Pinterics, that the Officers be advised of said char�es, and copies of the s�xne delivered to them. Said rule provides that Police �fficers sl�all not conduct themselves in a disorderly manner, or in a manner tivhich might be construed b� an observer as disorderly, and �shall not be �uiltf of an� conduct or ne;lect of duty prejudicial to good order � and discipline, or conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman. Said conduct constitutes a violation of rule 14 of said Rules and Regulations which prohibits anf off icer from drinkin� anf alcoholic or intoxicating liquors while on dut�r, that officers shall not buy liquor while in uniform, nor at any time frequent for the purchase of,�{consumption of, liquor, any place-tiahere into�icating liquor is sold for soncumption on the . premises. Because of the continued illness of Cap�ain Charles Rupe, Joseph Baran� is appointed acting Lieutenant of the rire Department, effective immediately, and subject to orders b� the Chief.
