A regular meeting of the Board of �ublic Safety �F1as held on P�Zonday,
�ctober 11, 1943 at 10:00 A.PrT. All members ti��ere present. �iinutes of the
last meeting were read and approved. Salary claims in the ariount of
�24,107.27 were approved and ordered paid. Claims of the follo�ing supp-
liers in the amount, of �3,961.23 vrere approved and ordered paid: .

, FOLICE DEPARTP;FENT: Chief. Everett was present and matters pertainin� to
his department vuere discussed.
A Special Police Bond vlas approved for TvTOble S. Rohrer and vTas ordered
filed.
The Chief presented to the Board a letter from John r�7. Klinger, Dir- �
ector Division of Corrections, submitting a copy of the Inspectors report.
The report was from Fred R. Farnam, Ins�i�utional Inspector� and made the
follotiving reco�runendations : . � ,
l. That each of the ttivo jail rooms be provided ti^�ith 'artificial ventilation
of the electrically operated exhaust fan type, and that each room be pro-
vided with a simple shower bath, a standard wash bowl and a prison type
toilet.

2. That the present jail quarters be thoroughl� cleaned, that they may be
rid of al1 vermin; repainted throughou�; and that wall lights be so
improved and adjusted as to provide ad��quate liohting in each cell.
3. That for bett�r ventilation, �ecurity, and jail safety, grill.ed 3ai1
doors replace present solid metal doors, as early as possible.
4. That official �ail rules as prescribed by statute, be pos�ed and
closely iollowed.

carrying out t he above. _
FIRE DEPARTI4?ENT: Chief DeVleescho«er �as present and ma�ters pertaining
to his department were discussed.
The Board authorized John Gish, �an applicant for the City Fire
Depar�ment, to go to the designated Doctors for a physical e�amination.
