POLICE DEPARTt�?ET�T; Upo,n motion dul�T 1�ade and seconded, the follovring
resolution �vas made, RESOLVED: That, Chief Ingram having terrdored his
resigna�ion to accept a position ��rith the United States Navy, his position
' 23 �
as a member of the Police Department of the City of South Bend, is
retained in accordance ti��ith the applicable statu�es of the Indiana State
Larr. He tivas voted eight days pay, and gr�nted his annual vacation. The
Board taok note of the fact that the �i.7ayor has appointed Capt. �lilli�r;l
Hudak as acting chief, pending the return of Harry Everett, ��aho is appointed
Chief of Police, but is a�tending the -school conducted b y the F.B.I.

The fioard approved bonds f or speci�l police officers, John Florkovlski,
Ha�rry Crandall, 4aJalter IJovricki and Frank Peters. These bonds yrere ordered

Ralph Arehart of the City Fire Dep�rtment, vras relieved of his .duties
because oi ph�rsical disabilities, -as reporte& to the Board. Three letters
ti^rere presented, one from I;�r. Asehart t s private physician, Dr. Alfred EZlison,
one fro?� the City Phssician, Dr. E. V. Earr:ion and one from the physician of
the riremen �s Pension Fund, i�,�r. Sensenich. This order, upon acceptance by
the Firemens Pen,sion Fund, beco�es effective as oz April 15, 1943. •
-Henry Bacl�gren having been called into service tilith the arr,ied forces
oi the United States, is relieved from duty and granted a t«o vJeeks vaca�ion.
He reserves all righ�s granted to him by latr as a r,iember of the said Depart-
r.ient . .
All ri�hts of the follot�rin� men, members of the Police and Fire Depart-
ments, •rrho have been inducted into the arr.led forces of the United States,
are hereb�T �ranted to them b� la�v, and are hereby reserved for them by the
