04/12/1922 Board of Public Works Minutes
51 Wednesday April 12th., 1922. Board met in regular session at 7:15 P.M. All members present. Hearing had on resolution for Pipe.sewer on Stanfield Street from Howard Street to St. Vincent Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 946. In the City of South Bend, Indiana. Upon said hearing property owners appeared and requested that water main be put on this stveit is sewer was_itid. The Board afterconsidering this matter deferred all action tntil Wednesday April 12th.9 1922 at 7:15 P.M. Hearing had on resolution for pipe sewer on Oakland Street from the'St. Joseph River to a point 100 feet south of the south line of Mishawaka Avenue, under®Improvement Resolution No. 947. In the City of South Bend, Indiana. Upon said hearing no remonstrance was filed and no remonstrators appeared. And the Board being fully advised in the premises, drecides that the ebenefits to the property liable to'be assessed for said improvements ae equal to the estimated cost of the same as reported by the City Civil -Engineer , and thereupon takes final action on said resolution as originally adopted and the same is hereby in all things, ratified, confirme and approved. Resolved further, that notices be published, on the 14th. day of April 1921 and on the 21st. day of April 1922 in the South Bend Daily Tribune and South Bend News Times stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvements up to 10:00 A.M. May 2nd., l922 at 10:00 A.M. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Smith s Addition, under Improvement Resolution No, 949. In the City of South Bend, Indiana. Upon said hearing non remonstrators appeared and no written remon- strance was filed. And the Board being fully advised in the premises, decides that the bent fits to property liable to be assessed for -said improvement are equal to the estimated cost of the same, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on said resolution an originally adapted, and the same is hereby in all things, ratified, confirmed and approved. Resolved further, that notices be published on the 14th. day of April 1922 and on the 21st. day of April 1922 in, the South Bead Dews Times and South Bend Tribune, in this City, stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said work up to 10:00 A.M. An infvmal hearingg had on Petition for ggrade, curb and walk on Hill Street from Howard Street° to Aapoleon Street. In trio above matter a number of property owners appeared for said improvement and Mrs. Augusta Suhl and others appeared against said improvement. The Board after hearing -all parties'interested decided to order resolution prepared for grade, curb and walk on Hill Street from Howard Street to Napoleon Street. The following grades Were presented to the Board by the City Engineer and were approved. Nrade on Alley East o St. Peter Street from E. Jefferson Blvd. to E. La Salle Avenue. ' Hearing given on roll of awards of damages and assessments of benefits in.the matter of the Widening of Kendall Street from Indiana Avenue to Ewing Avenue, under Condemnation Resolution No. 57. In theCity of South Bend, Indiana. In the above matter remonstrators appeared(Representatives of Mar Sumption Estate appeared and remonstrated against the amount of damages allowed, gut no written remonstrance was filed.
