F. Seebirt present. Mr. R. R. Smith Vice President and Gen'l. MAr. Chicago, South Bend & Northerl Ry. Company with Mr. Southworth appeared before the Board and requested permission to place a feeder line for power booster for South Michigan Street and Miami Street lines on Miami Street from Lincoln Way East to Broadway and. on Broadway from Miami Street -to Marietta Street, also to place pi�ht, poles .oxi-Broadway and Miami Streets and use same jointly with- the Indiana Bel? "'e!.ep`icne Company poles now or. said street and print submitted approved and the Board i.iastrocte- the Clerk to notify the Indiana Bell Tel. Vomppany of the ppermission ranted the Chica o South Bend & Northern Indiana Railway Company and that their es are to be Non jointly. City Engineer explained that the sewer was only in part way on Rush Street. Board ordered resolutions prepared for sewer and pavement on Rush Street from Indiana Avenue to Haney Avenue. Councilman Sid Thornton apppeared before the Board in regard to utition on file for rade, curb and Walk on Yorth Hill Street from Howard Street Napoleon Street. *ritten remonstrance tiled a ainst said improvement. The Board after due consideration decided to set said petition for an informal hearing as to the a.dvisdbility of this improvement for April 12th., 1922 at 7:15 P.M. Clerk in- structed to send noticestoproperty owners. Property owners ,ap eared before the Board in re and to petition for sewer on Lon ley Avenue from Colle e Street to Johnson Street. Re oluti.on ordered. Written remonstrance against said �mprovemen.t received read and placed on file. Councilman Hardman with Frank Strouch appeared before the Board in regard to opening of an alley between lots 3-4-5 &6 MeasBs Addition Addition from Porte Avenue to Lincoln Way West.. The Board instructed the Street. Commissioner to to investigate this alley preparatory to placing new curbx returns and report as to obstructions in alley. Property owner b name of Kronewit,ter appeared before the Board for rade curb -and walk on Ruskin Kreet from Emerson Avenue to Oakland Street. Resolution ordered D. C. Layton, Street Commissioner.appeared before the Board and took up matter of the Northern Indiana Gas & Elec. Company using a bar to break into new pavements ror gas leaks. Board requested Mr. G. M. Johnson to appeare before the Board and requested him to have his workmen use a drill and not a bar on pavement. Attorney Harry A. Wair appeared before the Board representing the School City and requested that a resolution be adopted for the v&cation of alleys between 10th.,.and llth. Street and Pleasant Street and Vine Street*'as School City Tas about to let a contract for the erection of a school building .on this bbock. Board ordered Vacation Resolution prepared. Board passed Resolution authoriting the publication of the Building Code in pamphlet form. Grade, curb and walk on Scholum Street from Division Street to N. Y. C. Ry. Co. Pavement on lst.'alley south of Division Street from Franklin Street to Lafayette Street. Sewer on Roberts Street from Mishawaka Avenue to River .in Baker & McHenry's Addition. Resolution for opening of' alley between St. Peter Street and Notre 13ame'Avenue running from Sorin Street to South Bend Avenue. Communication received from Frank Beily Supreme Secretary of Order of Owls in regard to no sewer connection into Owl Hospital at corner of Notre Dame Avenue and Howard Street. Same read and referred to the Street Commissioner for investigation and report. Pole and Wire Inspector reported nn petition for cluster lights on South St. Joseph Street between Jefferson Street and Wayne Street as Follows: - To the Board of Public Works I be to recommend there be placed nine iron post cluster lights on St. Joseph Street between Jefferson Avenue and Wayne Street 4 posts on west and five posts on cast side of Wayne Street. Posts about 82 feet apart. Remove are light from St. Joseph St, and reset one are light now at the corner of Wayne Street and St. Joseph Street to the alley south of St. Joseph Street, Thos. H. Beaning. Board ordered same to be held up until improvements are made, when lights will be installed. Petition filed for grade curb and walk on Keller Street from Portage Avenue to Anderson Avenue referred to City Panning Board beforf improvement is ordered in ,on account of jog in street . Excavation Bond of Anton J. Swierski approved. Estimated cost of pipe sewer in Jackson Street filed st..... 49553.00 Bid for lumber for the Street Department submitted by Sanders and Ekbert and approved by the Board. Be It Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, State of Indiana, that it is desired and deemed necessary to improve Irvington Avenue from Michigan Street to Fellows As follows, to -wit:- Said avenue shall be graded and the roadway thereof shall be paved; also the roadway of ertain portions of the streets and alleys which enter or intersect said avenue shall be graded and paved.
