Tuesday October 12th.11915. Y 7St3 Board met in regular session at 10:00 AL M. All members present. M. Jackson appeared before the Board and requested that they relieve him of. his assessment on his property for the Grading of Dubail Avenue, under Improverm nt Resolution No. A46.1914o The Board took the above matter underadvisement. Bids were received, opened and -read for Pavement and curb on Bartlett.Street v from East line of St. Joseph Street to Riverside DriveJ The same were referred to the City Engineer for tabulation to be peported on at 7:45 P.M. this 12th. .dad of Oct.19.5. Bids were received, opened and read for pavement, curb, sidewalk and grading on Leeper Avenue from Howard Street to AngeIla Avenue. The same were referred to the City Engineer for tabulation to be reported at at 7:45 P.M. this 12th. -day 'of Oct s1915. Mr. August Schabbel appeared before the Board and remonstrated against his assessment for'water tap on W. 66 f't: of Lot 70 on Franklin Street. Mr. Toyne Supt. of Water Works Dept. stated he would investigate said matter. 0 0 N T R A C T. ------------------- This agreement made this 12th. daynof Oetber,1915 by and between Homer U. Short and the City of South Bend, by and through its Bo rd of Public Works,WITNESSETH; 1hereas the said Homer L. Short has a contract from the County of St. Joseph for the grading of the street in the City of South Bend known as Ernsberger Street to certain levels specified by the County Surveyor and whereas the City of South Bend desires such levels changed to --a arade to be established by the City Iffigineer or the County Surveyor and' desires that the Haid Homer L. Short shall do said. work of excavating and grading, it is hereby agreed ba' and between said parties: That the. said Homer L. Short shall do the excavating on,Ernsberger Street between Ewing Avnue and the Lake Shore Railway and remove the dirt from said street and grade said street to the levels to be provided by the County or City Engineer. It is understood that there are approximately 1400 cubic yards of ground to be removed on said work. For said services the City of South Bend shall pay as its portion of the expenses fifteen cents. per cubic yard for each cubis yard of dirt so removed by the said Short, and on completion of said work by the said Short the City of South Bend hereby agrees to pay the said Short for said work at said price. Communication received from the Grand Trunk Western Ry. Co. addressed to Mr. Eli. Seebirt, City Attorney, stating that their would make the necessary replanking of their right of way on Division Street soon. The same read and placed on file. We have just completed arrangements with the Street Railway Co. to rebuild the Michigan Ave. Line and will order material for the reconstruction of the line and put in our proposed underground at once. Cahill Contractor on Michigan Street Trunk /Sewer stating the number of rainy days we had during time of contract. The same was read and placed on file. Petition for electric light at corner of South Colum bia and Pennsylvania ✓ Avenue referred by the Common Council was read and placed on file. Engineer filed estimated cost of Pipe sewer on Indiana Avenue from Main St. to Michigan Street at.......39S.o© Partial estimate granted Harry N. Barnes for c ement walk on North Michigan ✓ Street at..........*"2.04 The Board signed specifications for pipe sewer on Abx Street from St. Joseph ✓ Street to Fellows Street and on Indiana Avenue from Main Street to Michigan Street. President. ■ 85 Board met in regular session at 7:45 P.H. All members present. Hearing had on assessment roll and final estimate for Pipe sewer on Boorman Street .from Bowman Creek Trunk sewer to a point 1W feet east of the east line of Michigan_Street, In the City of South Bend, Indiana.. In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed. The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said rolls filed September 21st.91915* is benefitted in the amount of assessments as shown on said rolls and the Board further finds that the assessment roll filed September 21st.,1915. and the final estimate allowed September 21st.91915 shou.ld be and -the same are hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. Hearing had or. assessment roll anti fianl estimate for Asphaltic Concrete r pavement on North Michigan Street from Foote Street to south end of the Michigan Street bridge also intersection at north end of Michigan Street bridge, Under Improvement Resolution No. 3904 In tble City of South Bend, Indiana. In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were. filed. The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said rolls filed Octo er 5th.11915. is benefitted in the amount of assessments as shown on said rolls, and the Board furthr find that the assessment rolls filed October 5th.,1915. and the final estiate allowed October 5th.,1915. should be and the same are hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. Engineer filed assessment roll and final estimate for Macadam Pavement on Tecumseh Avenue from Wakewa Avenue to Pokagon Street, Under I mprovement Resolution No. 374. In the City of South Bend, Indiana. Resolved, that notices as to the amounts of assessments -be published for six conseeftiee days in the South Bend Daily Tribune, commencing on the 18th. day of October,1915 stating that this Board vd ll give a hearing on the amount of such assess- ments at its office in the City Hall on the 26th. day of Oetober,1915 at 7:45 P.M. Resolved fftther, that the entire work undee r the above contract.be accepted and approved and the final estimate thereon allowed. Notice of this resolution shall be published on the ISth. day of Uctober 1915 in the South Bend Daily Tribune stating that this Board will give a hearing on the acceptance of such work at its office in the City Hall on the 26th. day of October,1915. at 7:45 P.M. In regard to contract for curb and pavement on Bartlett Street from E. line of St. Joseph Street to Riverside Drive, the awarding of same was deferred until 'Satu ?day0ctober 23rd.. ,1915. at 1f1 00 'A;X. as per resolution adopted by the Board. Clerk instructed to notify City Attorney Seebirt to draw up waivers on the above improvement. In regard to petition and form of contract for sign track in the alley on the east side of Vandalia Railroad Company between Sample and Garst Street in this City signed by Jacob Reamer by Oare and Geyer Attys for petitioner, the Board rejected this by unanimous consent. Street Commissioner reported that at 215 S. Fox Street Klepper Bros. were building a house and .are now filling Bowman Creek at that point. In the creek bed V they are covering an 18" tile. The Clerk was instructed to write to Kneapper and Knepper and notify them that as this wa,s a natural water course that they must remove said obstruction at once. Mr. Gordon representing the Union Trust Company appeared before the Board in regard to removing lamp, on iron post at southeast corner of Michigan Street �- and Jefferson Streetp as the same interfered with the foundation of.new building a t this point.- The Clerk Ordered to write to Indiana & Michigan Elea. Co. and notify them to remove said lamp. 7 S ..1c315. Continued. Concerning the improvement of the roadway of Leeper Avenue from Howard Street to Angella Avenue with Macadam in pursuance to Resolution No. 4050. In the City of South Bend, Indiana. This being the day for receiving and opening bids, the Board at 10:00 ofeloek A.M. ptibliely opened re6d and considered all bids. And thereupon the Board designated Qlutrin Bound Macadam the kind of pavement with which said street is to be improved and fixes the 23rd. day of October,1915 as the:time when petitions must be filed, and the toard hereby continues this matter until -the 23rd. day oP October,1915 at 10:00 A.M. and all bids are hereby referred to the City Engineer for tabulation.and report as to the lowest and best bid, On the day above named the Board will either pass on petitions let said contract or re je ct all bids. Dated October 12th. 11915. at 7:45 P.M. . 0oncerning the improvement of .the roadway of Bartlett -Street from E. line of ,.,-St. Joseph Street to Riverside Drive with Macadam in pursuance to Resolution No.-401 this being the day for receiving and opening bids, the Board at 10:00 At -clock A.M. publidly opened read and confirmed all bids. And thereupon the board -designated the kind of pavement with which said street is to be improved and fixes the 23rd. day of October 1915 as the time when petitions must be filed, and the Board hereby continues this matter until. the 23rd. day of October 1915 at 10:00 A M. And all bids wre hereby' referred to the City E gzneer for tabulation and report as to the lowest and best bid.
