Cahill Contractors on Michigan Street ,,"Trunk sewer from La Salle Avenue to Monroe Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 367 appeared before the Board and akked for an extension of time in which to complete above mentioned trunk sewer, stating that, owing to the rainy weather and labor condi- tions, same was not completed at tiro stated in contract. The Board took said matter under advisement until 7145, P.M, this" 14th. day of September,1915. Communication received in regard to placing Martin Cole as an inspector / on City work from John A. Hibberd. Same placed on file.. Bond and contract for gravel pavement on Prairie Avvenue from Grant Street to Ewing,Avenue signed by Perkins and Perkins , was approved by the Board. Board instructed the City Civil Engineer to prepareplans and specifications for a fence along the Lincoln Way East near the Grand Trunk Western By. along the top of the River bank on the easterly side of Lincoln Way East from a point about 420 feet north of the Grand Trunk Western Ry. tracks to a part 166 feet south of said track. The City Engineer was also instructed to notify contractors and receive bids for the above fence. T, It is hereby ordered by unanimous consent of the Board of Public Works, that bids received September 7th.91915 for grade, curb and pavement on. -Bartlett Street from St. Joseph Street to Riverside Drive under Improvement Resolution No. 401 be rejected and readvertised. It was also resolved that the grading be eliminated from specifications for grade, curb and pavemnt on Bartlett Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 401, the same to be done as per agreement by the Park Commissioners. Resolved further that bids be advertised for curb and pavement on Bartlett Street from Sti, Joseph Street to Riverside Drive, under Improvement Resolution No. 401 on the 23td day of September91915 and on the 30h. day of September,1915 in the South Bend Daily Tribune, stating that bids will be received on the 12th . day of October, 1915 at 10 :00 A.M. The Board reserves the right to r e jest any and al. 1 bids. Bond and contract for Graviling of Prairie Avenue from grant Street to Ewing Avenue, under Improvement Resolution No.400 signed by Perkins & Perkins was approved by .the Board. President. Communication received from Postal Telegraph --Cable Company of Chicago Ill., in regard to poles and underground work on Vistula Avenue thisCity. The same ✓ was referred to the City Engineer to answer. Street Commissioner reported on complaint of Councilman Goebel in regard to sidewalk -extensions and curb at northeast, southeast and southwest corners of Garst Street and Catalpa Avenue. The Board ordered that the same beput in by CitV contractor. The City Engineer presente'd the following report on alley snd the same was placed on file until alley is graded. To the Hon. Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana.: Gentlemen: — I have investigated the, condition of the a11_ey between Cushing Street and Portage "Avenue a-s requested by your board. The steps of house on lot #7 encroach about 1-1/2 feet into the alley. A clothes line pole belonging to the ovrner of lot #7 also encroaches about 3 feet into t the alley. Der. Strickler has a pile of dirt on his property which partially obstructs the alley. This alley has never been graded. Very respectfully, FREDERICK J.-ANDERSON, City Engineer. The Board granted J. H. Cahill, Contractor for the Michigan. Street Trunk sewer,under Improvenent Resolution No. 367 an extension of time for the completion of said sewer -of three (3) weeks from September 20th- 915. As he had shorn sufficient reason fbr said extension. Presidlent. f Vice President.
