Gentlemen:- My experience with road oiling is as follows: The average amount to use at application on streets or roads is 1/3 gal -to sq. yd. Dirt streets nee d more, while some kinds of macadam take less. The 600 gal. tank,Road-Oiler covered about 4/10 of a mile, g ft. wide. Approximately 1500 gals No.4 Read Oil to the Mile,g ft.in width. My estimate on total expense of oil and of labor applying same is about 3 cents per sqy yd.A common lot 50 ft. frontage,(say oil the street 24 ft wide)each lot would have 5on2' 600 sq. ft. or 66-2/3 sq.yds.®3 cents is 2.00 per lot others, in proportion Second oiling is necessary the first year. Very Respectfully,D•C•LAYTON,St.Com. President.
