Hearing had on assessment roll an final estimate for pavement on Cottage
Grove Averse from Grand View Avenue to Oak Street, under Improvement Resolution No.
354. In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrance were
filed. The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said rolls filed June 1st.
1915 s'benefited in the amount of assessments as shown on said bolls, and the Board further
find that the assessment rolls filed June lst.,1915 and the final estimate allowed June lst.
1915 should be and the same are hereby in all things ratified,•confirmed and approved,*
The Board allowed W. S. Benham who is making repairs for Stewart —Sheets &
Company in connection with the Bowman Creek Trunk sewer improvement the sum of $90.00 from
the $900.00 now on deposit in the St. Joseph Loan and Trust Co.
The following release was fign.ed by the Board.
The Board of pUblic Worse of the City of South Bend, Indiana does hereby
release,a certain Bond No. 128484 dated May lst.1914 in the summof One Thousand ($1,000.00)
Dollars, for the excavation of streets. %Ach-bond was executed and delivered on said date,
to the City of South Bend, Indiana, and which -bond was made in favor of William Collmer, as
priniepal and the Illinois Surety Company, as surety, hereby releasing and discharging
the said William Collmer and the Illinois Surety Company from any and all further liability
on -said Bond.

Bend and contract for Macadam pavement on Fulton Court from La Salle
r Avenue to 1st. alley north, under Improvement Resolution No. 379. signed by Hoban and Roach
as prinieipal and London & Lancashire Guarantee and Accident Co. as sureties was
approved by the Board.
The ordered the Dhicage, Lake Shore & South Bend Ry. Co. that the plan
submitted to them by the City Civil Engineer for the impro veme t of the lot at the corner
Of L torte Avenue and La SalI�# enue is the one they adoppb Nited, with the exec ie of
the improvement may start Ten 0 feet from the center o the track instead ne (91)
feet from the center of the track and you are hereby ordered to make said improvement
according to the Ordinance providing for same.
Permission was granted to the Loyal Order of Moose to close the following
galleys and sidewalks from July 5th. 1915 is July 10th.1915 inclusive.while the Carnival
was being held.
Alley between Washington Avenue and Jefferson Blvd. east from Maple St.
to intersecting alley. First alley east of Maple Street running south from Washington Avenue
to Jefferson Street. Also the use of sidewalk on Jefferson Street between Maple Street
and first alley east, running north.

Board met in regular session at 10:00 A.M. All members present.
✓ Bids were received, opened and read for 15avement on Allen Street from
Oak Street to Van Buren Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 375. In the City of
South Bend, Indiana. The same were referred to the City Civil Engineer for tabulation to
be reported to the Board at 7:45 P.M. this 29th. day of June,1915.
Bids were also received on water connections on Vassar Avenue from River-
P-sidef%o Portage and on Fulto n Court end Hamden Court from Ba- Salle Avenue to 1st. alley
north and on Tecumseh Avenue from Wakewa Ave. to Po�agon Street. ,The same were referred
th the City fivil Engineer to report back at 7:45 P.M. this29th. day of June,1915.
An SO Candle Power Incandescent Light was ordered placed at the S.W.
,-corner-of Swygart Court and Indiana Avenue. Clerk instructed to notify Indiana & Mic-ligan
Flee. Co. to place same.
The Board ordered Ten (10) Horse sweeper brooms for the Street Dept.
r from the Studebaker Corporation at $12.00 each.
The Street Commissioner filed the following report.
We have cleaned Division Street sewer from Olive Street east to Singer
office and across fingers yard to Washington Avenue at Circle Ave ue 20 inch sewer an
Olive Street and 24 inch as it nears Washington Avenue. Sewer now remains 1/2 full of
water showing sewer is flat. Grant Street 20 inch sewer Will help out greatly.

In the matter of the deferred hearing"on Division Street from Meade
street to Olive Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 355. The Board having the said
natter under advisement decided to rescind all action on said resolution.
Com munication received from W. G. Crabill Treasurer of the Navarre
,,.,Place Corporation in regard to water connections on Tecumseh Avenue stating that the
part of Tecumseh Avenue thich lies north of Parkovash Avenue -to the west side of street
will.receive their supply of water eventually from Lafayette Street. The same was
read and the .Board referred the same to the water department.
Petition received for a water main on South Marietta Street between
Ohio and Keasey.Street. The same was read and referred tonthe Water department.
Petition filed for sidewalk, curb and graveling of South Robinson Street
same referred to the City Civil Engineer for investigation.
Bond and contract for pipe sewer on Dale Avenue from Dubail Avenue to
Dayton Street under Improvement Resolution No. 376, signed by Henry De Vos as principal and
United States Fidelity & Guaranty Company of Balitmore as sureties was -approved by the
Board.

Avenue from Howard Street to Angella A venue, In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
Upon said hearing remonstrators appeared and a written remonstrance was filed.
And the Board being fully advised in the -premises decides that the benefits to pro-
perty liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to -the estimated cost of
the same, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on
said resolution as originally adopted, and the same is hereby in all things ratified,
confirmed and approved*.
Resolved further, that notices be°.published on the lst. day of July,1915
and on the £nth. day of July,1915 in a newspaper of general circulation in. said City,
stating that this Board will received bids for the construction of said improvements,
up to 10:00 A.M. on the 20th. day of July,1915 The Board reserves the right to -reject

cost of the -same, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and -thereupon takes final
action on said resolution as modified. Pipe sewer on Jaquith Court from Prairie Ave
to a point 115 feet east of the east line of ehapin Street and the same is hereby'in al
all things ratified, confirmed and approved.
Resolved further, that notices be published on the lst. day of July,1915
and on the Sth. day of July21915 in a newspaper of general circulation in said Citym
stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvements
up to 10:00 A.M. on the 201h. day of JuAy,1915 The Board reserves the right to reject
any and all bids.

from Lafayette Street to Tecumseh Avenue, In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
Upon said hearing no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrance was filed.
And the Board being fully advised in the premises, decides that the -benefits to pro-
perty liable to be assessed for said improvement are equal to the estimated cost of
the same, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action
on said resolution as originally adopted and the same is hereby in all things, rati-
fied, confirmed and approved.
Resolved further, that notices be published on the lst. day of April,
1915 and on the 8th. day of July91915 in a newspaper of general circulation in said
sewer, stating that this Baosd will receive bids for the construction of said improve-
ment up to 10:00 A.M. on the 20th. day of July,1915. The Board reserves the right
to reject any or all bids.

sewer on St. Peter and Sorin Street from Eddy Street to St. Louis Blvd. In the
City of South Bend, Indiana.
Upon said hearing remonstrators appeared but no further written remon-
strance was filed. And the Board being fully advised in the premises decides that the
benefits to property liable to be assessed for said improvement are equal to the esti-
mated cost of the same, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes
final action on said resolution as originally adopted, and the same is hereby in all
things, ratified, confirmed and approved.
Resolved further, that notices be published on the 1st. day of July,1915
and on the Stht day of July,1915 in a newspaper of General circulation in said City,
stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said Improvements up
to 10:00 A.M. on the 20th. day of July 1915 . The Board reserves the right to reject
any or all bids.

Hearing had on Improvement Resolution No. 393 for pipe sewer on Corby
Street from Niles to East line of St. Louis Blvd. In the, City of South Bend, Indiana.
Upon said hearing remonstrators appeared and remonstrated against said
sewer being constructed this year, but no written remonstrance,were filed. And the Board
being fully advised in the premises, decides that the benefits to property liable to be
assessed for said improvements are equal to the estimated cost of the same,�as reported by
the Gity Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on said resolution as originally
adopted, and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved.
Resolved further, that notices bepublished on the llth. day of January
1916 and on the 18tn . day of January 1916 in a newspaper of general circulation in said City,
stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvements up
to 10:00 A.I. on the lst. day of February,1915. The Board reserves thr' gith to reject
any and all bids.( The Board confimed said resolution with understanding that this improve -
would be put in in spring of 1916.).
Permission was granted to the Overland Autombole Company to use sidewalk
from their place of business on North, Michigan Street to La Salle Avenue until such time
that they will be able to use their driveway to Michigan Street. Care to be used not
to injure said sidewalk.
Clerk instructed to write to C. A. Hagerty and send C. H. De Frees bill
for locating sewer taps at South William Street in front of property owned by him.

ORDER SELECTING KIND OF PAVEMENT.
Concerning the Imp m vement of the roadway of Allen'Street from Oak
Street to Van Buren Street, in pursuance of Improvement Resolution No. 379 1915 the pre-
liminary order for the improvement heretofore adopted is hereby confirmed.
The Board now orders that so much of the said street is improved with
Veedersburg Brick on a gravel foundation and awards the contract to Harry N. Barnes he being
the lowest add'best bidder.

Contracts for the water connections on Fulton, Hamden Court, Tecumseh
Avenue and Vassar Avenue were awarded to Fred P. Futter.
In the matter of the hearing on Vacation of Oft. off alley at rear of
Lot 35 in Original Plat of South Bend, the Board decided to defer all action until
Tuesday July 13th.,1915 at 7:45 P.M.

SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 395.
Resolved by the Board of Public Works.of.the City of South Bend,
Indiana, St. Joseph County, State of Indiana, That it is deemed necessary to improve
Dubail Avenue from the west line of High; Street to the west lmne of Dale Avenue ad
follows ,to -wit: -
By constructing cement sidewalk and cement curb on both sides of said
Dubail Avenue from the west line of High Street to the west line of Dale Avenue., -All
as shown on the plans and in accordance with the profiles detail drawings and speci-
fications on file in the Office of the Department of Public Works of the City of South
Bend, Indiana. and in accordance with the profiles, details, draw3.ggs and sped fication
on file in the office of the Department of the Board.of Public Works of said City;and
such improvement is now ordered.
The cost of said improvement, Including the cost of street and alley
intersections, shall be assessed upon the real estate cutting on said Dubail Avenue all
according to the method and manner provided for in an Act of the General Assembly of
the State of Indiana, entitled "An Act Concerning Municipal Corporations," approved
March 6,1905 and in accordance with and pursuant to the provisions of all amendatory
and supplemental sets thereto, passed by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana.
Assessments, if deferred, are to be paid in ten equal annual installments, with inter-
est at the rate of Six per cent per annum. A bond or bonds are to b@ � e, to,;the t;
contractor in payment of such work, unless the property ov ers pay said assessment
before said bond or bonds are issued. Under no circumstances shall the City, be, or
be held responsible for arm sum or sums due from said property ovner or owners for
said work, or for the collection of the same, or for the payment of any bond,_ -bonds,
certificate or certificates, issuedto said cD ntraetor in payment for such vo rk, except
for such moneys as shall have been actually received by the City from the assessments
for such improvement, or such moneys as said City is by said above entitled Act requ ird
to pay. All proceedings had, and work done in the making of said improvement, assess—
ment of property, collection of assessments and issuance of bonds therefor, shall be as
provided for in said above entitled Act and amendments thereto.
Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 1st. day of duly
1915 and on the Sthe day of July91915 in the South Bend Daily Tribune. This Board will
give a hearing on this resolution in its office in the City Hall on the 27th. day of
July,1915 at 7:45 P.M.
