AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND, INDIANA APPROPRIATING $640,349 WITHIN FUND 212,
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FUND, FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING
THE ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY &
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Statement of Purpose and Intent:
In order to assure the efficient and timely utilization of community resources, the
Department of Community & Economic Development has entered into contracts to provide
staff and administrative support for various not-for-profit organizations and programs. These
revenues are the basis for the administrative budget and need to be appropriated for that
use.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South
Bend, Indiana, as follows:
SECTION 1. The sum of $640,349 is hereby appropriated and set aside within Fund
212 for program year 2006, beginning January 1, 2006.
SECTION 11. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

Dear Council Member:
The attached bill for your consideration and approval will appropriate $640,349 in 2006
projected income to the Department of Community and Economic Development from fees,
interest income, and staff support contracts. These anticipated resources include staff
contracts for several not-for-profits and administration of the federal HOME program. These
amounts, along with other allocations are consistent with the total revenues presented to the
Council in September.
As we discussed at our budget meetings this summer, this action will complete the
department administrative funding for 2006. If you have any questions, please call me at
235-9330. 1 will present the bill at your November 14~' meetings.
