Subject: Professional Services Proposal — Air Gas & Ziolkowski Demolition
Wightman Petrie
Date: October 7, 2011
Attached to this memorandum is a close -out proposal related to the Air Gas and Ziolkowski
Demolition projects recently completed along South Lafayette Street south of Sample. Wightman
Petrie served as our site and environmental on -site inspection agent and additional costs were
incurred above the prior approved contract amounts related to their time and services rendered
inspecting the demo projects.
The contract budget for the Ziolkwoski project for inspections services was $9,310.00. Due to many
unforeseen conditions and additional work scope added to the project, Wightman Petrie incurred an
additional $8,240.00 in time and material expenses for a total project budget of $17,550.00.
The contract budget for the Air Gas project was $12,720.00. Due to additional work related to the
building demolition (caused by the proximity to the Hamilton Towing Building to the north) and some
additional on -site environmental testing that was needed, Wightman Petrie incurred an additional
$1,282.50 in time and material expenses for a total project budget of $14,002.50.
Staff requests approval of an additional $9,522.50 to close -out this project.

RE: AIR GAS AND ZIOLKOWSKI DEMOLITION PROJECT INVOICES
Dear Bill:
RECEIVED
OrT 0 6 7011
Enclosed, please find the final invoices for our services on the Air Gas and Ziolkowski
demolition projects. As we discussed on the phone, and as I summarized in an email on Friday,
September 30, we have exceeded our inspection budget on both projects due to authorized
time extensions for the contractor.
The estimated budget for inspection on the Ziolkowski Construction demolition project was
$9,310.00, based upon a 30 day inspection period, for four (4) hours a day. This schedule was
extended, with the approval of the City of South Bend, and our inspector continued to monitor
construction for four (4) hours a day for the duration of the project. Due to this unexpected
increase in inspection time our project fee increased by $8,240.00, to a total of $17,550.00.
The estimated budget for inspection on the Air Gas demolition project was $12,720.00. This
project was only slightly behind schedule. Our final fee for inspection on the Air Gas project,
including environmental services required for testing on an underground storage tank, total
$14,002.50.
Please feel free to call me at 232 -4388 or email me at bkonarski(cwightmanpetrie.com should
you have any questions.
Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.
