Academy Reveals Inner Workings of City Government
Once again, the City of South Bend's Local Government Academy offers residents the
opportunity to get up close and behind the scenes of local government at work! The next session
is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, from 5:30 — 7:30 p.m. Applications for
the ten-week course will be accepted until the class is full, and registration is free.
The Local Government Academy provides community members the opportunity to
explore a different aspect of city government each week, gaining a unique perspective on a 21st
Century City in action, from the inside out. The sessions are held on Wednesday evenings for 10
weeks and will take participants inside city departments where they will be able to view
operations, learn about policies and procedures, and discuss the opportunities and challenges
facing local government today. Sessions take place in the County-City Building and various city
facilities.
The City encourages participation and dialogue with community members to help to
continue to make South Benda 21"Century City. Mayor Luecke said, "Building community
awareness of city programs through communication will help our citizens to understand and fully
utilize our community services to their fullest."
Academy class size is limited to 25. Registration is open until the class is full. Please
contact the City's Legal Dept. at 235-9241, or register online at:
