South Bend Parks Opens Aquatics Facilities
SOUTH BEND, Indiana — It's summer and the South Bend Parks & Recreation
Department is opening aquatics facilities for the summer. Kennedy Water Playground
opened for the season June 5th. Kennedy Water Playground is a low depth interactive
water playground. Kennedy also has locker rooms and a concession stand. Kennedy
Water Playground id located at 2700 Westmore, in Kennedy Park. Hours of operation
are Monday — Saturday, 11:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m., Sunday 12:00 n — 5:00 p.m.
The Potawatomi Park Pool opened to the public June 7th. Besides swimming the pool
staff also offers aqua aerobics. Potawatomi Pool has a kiddie pool with spray feature.
The main pool is a regulation size pool with an over 20 high water slide, locker rooms
and concession stand. Hours of operation are 12:00 n — 6:00 p.m. daily, and Family
Night on Wednesday from 6:00p.m. — 8:00 p.m.
The East Race Waterway opens June 9th. The waterway is one of the original man-
made whitewater courses to be constructed in the northern hemisphere, and offers a
fun challenge to adults and children alike. The East Race is open for recreational rafting
on Saturdays from 12:00 n — 5:00 p.m., and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. The
cost is $4 per person, per ride.
