Department to be contin�ent on reports of these physicians . il
. After consultation �vith the Fire Departraent * s sur�eon and the phy- I
sician fo� the riremen1s Pensinn Fund, the Board adopted a standard set ;
of physici��l specifications for men applying for appointment to the Fire I
Depar�ment . The men must not be less than five feet seven inches tall, �
must not �v,igh less than 150 pounds. �ther speciiications are the s�e ;
as for enlLstment in the militar� service of the United States. In
addition t:1e men must be v�ccinated for small pox and pass a standard
syphillis �est. . II

A special rleeting of the Board of Safety VJ`dS held at 10 :00 A. P�i.
rebruary 7, 1941. Al1 members and the Chief of Police �rere present.
The Chief advised the Board of the notice received by Harry �rlalterhouse,
a patrolman, and a first lieutenant in the Reserve Officers Corps,
calling hin to report ior duty at Canute Field at Rantoul, Illinois on '�
February l�th, 1941. I
Upon proper �otion, the Board granted Officer �'dalternouse one �ear �s
leave of absence, to be revie�,ved at the expiration of that time and
extended if need be should Officer ;�'lalterhouse sti11 be in military
service.
Officer :'�altenc�use was also instructed to turn over his police
equipment immediately, and have the several da�s �etween notiv and the
lOth for arranging his personal affairs, nis salary to be paid to
February l�th, 1941. .
