Board of Pub lic Saf ety. - Gentle�ten: This afternoon a man by .th� name of 1'�rthur �7alsh, Broad- v��ay Hotel, and his attorney, Harold r:Tiller, ca.11ed at � the station and reported that ��ahile �;Valsh was being , booked at the Police station a quantity of supplies was � taken from his car. �:'lalsh v�as arrested July 28, 1932, on a drunk charge , also � operating an automobile ��aithout lights and an open muffler �.t I,incoln ':Jay East and Sample Streets and tivas booked b,y the Desk Sergeant at 2:05 A.2.T. He �vas brou�ht to the stati on in his car by �:Zotor Patrolmen Polinski and Kolaszar. ';dhen I learned from a certain souree that a quanti ty of cigarettes , tobacco , razor blades and packages of aspirin tablets had been �aken, I personally notified the officers concerned �o r eturn the stolen arti cles to the Desk Ser�eant at once. After this man '7alsh �ras released from eourt he checked the articles that v�ere turned over � to him with his sales reports and he says that he is still missing articles valued at :�24.89 . In other `��ords he is charged, according to his statement, by his company �vith '� eigarettes, tobacco , razor blades and aspirin tablets to I the value of the ab ove men ti oned sum. The men at the station house �.vho admitted their part � and returned. articles follows: Officer DeRose returned one carton of ci�;arettes, _ playing cards and razor �blades. � ' Officer Kolaszar returned t��o cartons of ci�arettes, tt��o decks o� playing cards and some razor blades. ; Officer Polinski returned a quanti ty of tobacco. I '� Officer Blake returned three cartons of cigarettes, � - some tobacco and one care of 24 pkts. of tazor blades. 2'his man �`Jalsh and his attorney have instructed me that it will t e necessary to reimburse the company for the alleged shortage. � �'hey feel that if the shorta�e is not made up by the officers , �- -- - - - - - - - : 1 �ff�� l�ugust 8 , 1932 ( cont'd� that restitution to the company �Nill have to be made by the sa le sman of ��24.89. " After discussing this report with Ass't Chief Hamilton, on motion of l:ir. Tro st, seconded by T,�r. Gadacz, and unanimously carried, the Board instructed him to suspend and file charges against Officers Julius DeRose , Paul Polinski and C. E. Blake for conduct unbecoming an officer pendin� trial set for 9:00 1�.a:T. ?.Zonday, Au�ust 15 , 1932. The Board further instrueted 1�sst Chief Hamilton to discharge probationary officer FranY Kolas��,r from further duties and is not entitled to trial according to the rizles of this ,department.
