Storm Water Pollution Prevention
Education Session
SOUTH BEND -- St. Joseph County, the Cities of South Bend, Mishawaka, Roseland, Osceola,
Bethel College, and Ivy Tech Community College are partnering with the St. Joseph County Soil
and Water Conservation District and Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) to
sponsor a public education meeting discussing storm water management regulations and their role
in storm water pollution prevention on March 15, 2007.
The meeting will take place at the St. Joseph County Main Library in downtown South
Bend in the Colfax Auditorium from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. We will be discussing what storm water
pollution prevention means for you and how you can help local government meet their
requirements and prevent storm water pollution. Please call the St. Joseph County S WCD office
to reserve your spot at (574) 291-7444 ext. 3.
With the approach of Spring, it is the perfect time to review the many things we can do, in
our day to day lives, to improve the water quality of our local water resource, the St. Joseph
River. Storm water discharges, if uncontrolled, allow hazardous wastes such as pesticides, motor
oil, anti-freeze, animal waste, and other sources of pollution to have a profound, negative effect
on our water quality.
