Luecke, Mayor RELEASE FROM: FOR RELEASE: OFFICE OF MAYOR LUECKE FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2005 Public Information Meeting Planned for Michigan/Ireland Intersection Improvements The City of South Bend announced that a Public Information Meeting on South Michigan Street and West Ireland Road intersection improvements will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. at O'Brien Recreation Center located at 321 East Walter Street in South Bend. Everyone is welcome to attend. Representatives from the City's Division of Engineering and Department of Community and Economic Development along with the consulting engineers will be available to answer your questions about improvements planned for the Michigan/Ireland intersection. Improvements will include expanding Ireland Road to five lanes from Michigan Street west to Lafayette Blvd, adding double left turn lanes on Michigan, improving drainage, and installing curbs and sidewalks on Michigan near the intersection. Curbs and sidewalks also will be installed along Ireland as development proceeds. The improvement project will take place during the 2005-2006 construction season to be completed in time for the opening of new retail shopping facilities planned at Ireland and Michigan.
