Luecke, Mayor RELEASE FROM: FOR RELEASE: Office of the Mayor Thursday, June 16, 2005 Jars Needed for 2005 Fire Hydrant Refurbishing We need baby food jars! The City of South Bend is once again conducting the Bicentennial Fire Hydrant refurbishing project. In order to assemble the paint kits for the project, the City is collecting baby food jars now. Jars will also be accepted throughout the entire summer. Please help by donating glass baby food jars with lids, or other 2-6 oz glass food jars with lids. Jars may be dropped off at any of the following locations. • River Park Neighborhood Partnership Center 2625 Northside Blvd. (Corner of 27th and Northside) Hours: Mon. &Wed., 9:00 AM -4:00 PM Tues. &Thurs., 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM • Rum Village Neighborhood Partnership Center 1031 W. Dubail 46613 Hours: Mon. thru' Thurs., 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM • Near Northwest Neighborhood Inc. 1007 Portage Ave. 46616 Hours: Mon. thru Fri. 8:00 AM -5:00 PM • Near Westside Partnership Center 205 Sadie 46628 Hours: Mon &Tues., 10:00 AM -5:00 PM Wed. &Thurs., 9:00 AM -5:00 PM The City of South Bend first began the decorative painting program as part of the Bicentennial Celebration in 1974-76. Volunteer painters may select from 40 designs that represent historic figures from the American Revolution. The designs were created by local artist Ruth VonKarowsky.
