Luecke, Mayor RELEASE FROM: FOR RELEASE: Office of the Mayor Monday, August 22, 2005 New Airport Economic Development Planner Announced The City of South Bend's Community & Economic Development Department- Economic Division announced today that Nicholas V. Witwer has been named the Division's Economic Development Specialist in charge of the Airport Development Area, effective Monday,August 8. Mr. Witwer's primary responsibilities include meeting with potential developers/investors interested in the Airport Development Area as well as the Blackthorn Industrial Park. He will be responsible for promoting new and expanded development, assisting developers in project planning, and facilitating the implementation of projects at the construction stage. He is also responsible for maintaining the comprehensive development plan for th e Airport Development Area, which is intended to guide new investment. Nick is a graduate of Ball State University,with a degree in urban planning and finance, and has completed course work in Architectural Engineering at the Indiana/Purdue University campus in Indianapolis. He comes to South Bend from the City of Noblesville where he worked as Assistant Zoning Administrator. During his college career Nick served an internship in Marshall County and participated in comprehensive planning exercises in the towns of Salem and Dyer, Indiana. "Nick's background in urban planning and finance, as well as his community experience,will serve the Department and South Bend well, as we work to bring in new, and grow existing, investment," stated Don Inks, Director of Economic Development, in welcoming Witwer to the City's Team.
