Luecke, Mayor RELEASE FROM:FOR RELEASE: Office of the MayorThursday, November 17, 2005 Leaf Pickup Schedule for the Week of November 21st through November 25th, 2005 Updated Leaf Pickup Information Following is the loose leaf pickup schedule for the week of November 21st through November 25th, 2005: Monday, Nov. 21 North East Quadrant McKinley Blvd. to Jefferson Blvd. Tuesday, Nov. 22 North East Quadrant Jefferson Blvd. to St. Joe River Wednesday, Nov. 23 South East Quadrant St. Joe River to Ewing St. Thursday, Nov. 24 HOLIDAY OBSERVED – NO PICKUP Friday, Nov. 25 HOLIDAY OBSERVED – NO PICKUP VIEW MAP Crews may experience delays due to inclement weather. Leaf pickup is expected to continue through the end of November, in order to complete pickup in the South East quadrant. Updated schedules will be available by calling the ReLeaf Information Line at 287-5005. As the City of South Bend makes its final rounds for loose leaf pickup for 2005, we ask residents for their help in clearing up any leftover leaves, as we convert leaf equipment for snow removal. Residents who have leaves remaining after loose leaf pickup ends in their neighborhoods are asked to utilize the City’s Yard Waste pickup program. Leaves must be bagged and placed at curbside by 6:00 a.m. on their regular trash pickup day. Raking and bagging leftover leaves is critical because loose leaves drift into the street and accumulate snow and ice, clogging stormwater drains and causing runoff and melting water to freeze on roads and sidewalks. These icy conditions are hazardous to vehicles and pedestrians, especially children and the elderly. The Yard Waste pickup program will continue for one week after loose leaf pickup ends. Bagged leaf collection will then be available on a call-in basis throughout the winter. For more information on bagged leaf pickup, please call the Bureau of Solid Waste at 277-8823.
