Luecke, Mayor RELEASE FROM:FOR RELEASE: Office of the MayorThursday, December 22, 2005 Holiday Solid Waste Pick Up Schedule The City of South Bend announced that due to the observance of Christmas Day on Monday, December 26 and New Year’s Day on Monday, January 2, there will be no trash pickup on either of these days. Therefore, residents are reminded that the regular trash collection day will be one day late, for the next two weeks. Regularly scheduled pick-up will resume the week of January 9, 2006. During the next two weeks, the trash pickup schedule will be: Week of Dec. 26, 2005 NO REGULAR PICKUP Monday: Monday pickup Tuesday: Tuesday pickup Wednesday: Wednesday pickup Thursday: Thursday pickup Friday: Week of Jan. 2, 2006 NO REGULAR PICKUP Monday: Monday pickup Tuesday: Tuesday pickup Wednesday: Wednesday pickup Thursday: Thursday pickup Friday: As a reminder, the City will begin collecting discarded, natural Christmas trees on Tuesday, January 3, on a call-in basis. The number to call for Christmas tree pickup is 235-9244. All trees are recycled at Organic Resources to produce high quality mulch, as part of South Bend’s proactive environmental stewardship. On Monday, January 9, Street Department crews will begin collecting trees without the need to call in. Crews will start in the northeast quadrant of the city and work clockwise around the city. Mayor Luecke thanks all residents for their patience and cooperation this year as the City implemented the new solid waste collection program, and wishes everyone a safe and joyous holiday season!
