Board met in regular session at 10:00 A.M. All members present.
A delegation of property owners residing on East Jefferson Blvd. appeared
before the Board in ' regard $ro having boulevard lighting system installed on said Street
to Greenlawn Avenue. Those being present were as follows.: Mr. Stepkhn.son, Mr., George
Tit*er, Mr. Frank Mayr,Jr. Mr. Birdsell. end Mr. Richard Elbel,representing the Park Board.
The Board took this matter under advisement.
Midge Ford appeared before the Board in regard to the opening of Franklin
Street from Jefferson Street to 'Mayne Street. The Board took this matterunder advisement.
At. the ' request of the Board Mr. C.D. Emmons of. the Chicago, South Bend &
y Northern Indiana *- Company appeared before the Board and agreed -to repair p€+:verient between
tracks on north Michigan Street , near new bridge.
Mr. Thomas Slicb appeared befor. d the Board in regard to plaeing underground
conduit on west side of North SRoee Drive.
The following resolution was approved by the Board.
R E S O L U T I O N.
Be it Resolved, by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend,
Indiana, this 271h. day of April,1915 that an order be issued to all public utilities having
poles in the streets or other public places in the City, to remove all unused poles ,in said
public places within Thirty (30) days: from this day, otherwise, if sysh poles are not
removed, the City will proceed to remove them at the expense of .the utility aeving such
poles in such public places.

27th. '1915 passed a resolution ordering that all public utilities rjaving poles in the ser-
streets or other public places in the City, to remov€� all unused poles in said public places
w-ithin Thirty (30) days from this day,6therwise, if such poles are not removed the City gill
proceed to remov- them at the expense of the utility having such poles in such public places.

file for further eonside-ration•.
Sidewalk extension ordered placed at northwest cornerof Yukon Avenue and
Portage Avenue. This was left over from last year.
Waiver received from the Michigan Central Icy. Company in regard to sup-
porting their tracks for Leeper avenue sewer. The same was referred to the City
Attorney and City Civil Engineer- for a repo'-t.'
Hearing on. Pipe sewer on. Division Street from Meade Street to Olive
f Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 359, was deferred until Tuesday May 4th. ,
1915 at 7:45 P.M.
Plat of Stull's SixthnAddition presented to the Board by Herman
I Toiulka was referred to the City Civil Engineer for investigation to be reported on
at `meeting held Tuesday May 4th.,1915. at 10 .000 A.M.
Engineer filed assessment roll for grading of,Dubail Avenue from
A High Street to Dale Avenue, under Improvement Resolution No. 346. In the City of Soulb
South Bend, Indiana.
Resolved, that notices as to trio amounts of assessments be published fe
for six consecutive days in the South Bend Daily Tribune, eommeneing May 3rd.1915
stating that this Board will :give hearing on t'^E amount of such assessments at its

Be It Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend,
✓St. Joseph County, State of Indiana, that it is desired and'deemed necessary to improve
ALLEN STREET FROM OAK STREET TO VAN BUREN STREET, as follows,to—wit ` —
By grading and pavi ng
the roadway, also grading and paving of all intersecting and entering streets and alleys
lying within said portion of said Allep Street not included in the roadway to be improved
with ASPHALT 2 ASPHALT ICE CONCRETE, BITUDITHIC: CREOSOTED WOODEN BLOCKS OR R;RI(K LAID on a
five (5) inch Portland Cement Gravel foundaion. Or with Brick laid ek aL ikix(6) inch
Rolled. Gravel foundation. Placing the necessary marginal cement curb, curbing the roadway
with cement eurb where same is not already constructed. Also the construction of the
necessary storm water inlets and conduits. All as shown on the plans and in accordance
with the profiles, detail drawing and specifications on file in the office of the Depart'
merit of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana.
The cost of the improvement herein provided for, except street a'nd alley
intersections, shall be paid by special assessment tone levied upon the property specially
bet.,efitted j to the amount that the eamemay be legally assessed therefor, in accordance
with an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled "An Act Concerning
Municipal Corporations," approved March 6,1905, and in accordance with and pursuant to the
provisions of all acts amendatory and supplemntal thereto.

The cost of all street and alley intersections, including one -halt' of the
width of the improvement opposite street .and alleys which run into, but do' not cross
said roadway herein purposed to be improved and that portion of such street or alley -
abutting upon property belonging to said City, or upon property not subjeet to such
assessment, shall be padd by the City in cash out of its general fund, if able to do sq
or from a fund created by s, spe-eial assessment to be levied under the provisions of
Section 108 of the above entitled Act.
Assessments of ten dollars and more against each lot, if deferred., are to
be paid in ten ec_aual annual. installments, with interest at the rate of Six per cent
per antrum. A bond or bonds will be issued to the contractor to the amount of such de-
ferred assessments in pro rata payment for such improvement.. -
Under,nc circumstances..shall the City of South Ben.O be, or beheld.respon
sible ' for an-y sum or sums due from said property owner or pwners for said wo*, or for
the collection of the same, or for the payment of any bona, bonds, certificate or
certificates', issued to said contractor in payment for such work, exceptCor such
moneys as shall have aetually been received by the City from the assessments for such
improvements, or such moneys as said City is by said entitled Act and amendments and
supplements thereto required to pay. All proceedings had, and work done in the making
of said improvement, assessment of property, collection of assessments and issuance
of bonds therefor, shall be as provided for in said above entitled Act, and Aets amend-
atory thereof and supplemental thereto.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Board of Public Works fix the 25th. day
of May21915 at the hour of 7:45 P*M. at the office of the Board of Public Works,of this
City, as the time and ,place for t a public consideration of said propsed improvement
at which said Board of Public Works will hear all persons interested, or whose pro -
perms is liable to be as"for said improvement and will decide whether the bone--

STREET OR ALL IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 379.
I BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY,STATE OF INJIANA, that it is desired and deemed necessary to improve
Fulton Court from LaSalle Avenue to the First Alley north of La Salle Avenue as
follows ,to -wit: -
By grading and maeadamizing the roadway with a water Bound Macadam
eight (9) inches in depth from the north line of LaSalle Avenue to the first alley
north of LaSalle Avenue. `Placing the necessary cement marginal curb, curbing the
roadway with cement curb where not already constructed. Also the co struction of the
necessary storm water inlets and conduits. All as shown on the plan and in accord-
ance with the profiles and detail drawings on file.in the Office of the Department
of Public Works of the City of South Mend, Indiana.
The cost of the improvement herein provided for, gxeept street and alley
intersections, shall be peAd by special assessment to be levied upon the property
specially benefited, to the amount that Yahat the same mey be legally assessed
therefor, in accordance with an Act of the General Assembly of the State of -Indiana,

propdrty liable to be assessed for said improvement will be equal -to the estimated,
costthereof.
