The following communication was received from the Common Coumcil, read and placed on file. To the Board of Public Works. of the City of South Bend,Ind. Gentlemen: At the regular meeting of the Common Council held Monday December 14th. 1914 the following motion prevailes3.' MOTION BY COUNCILMAN TROMPSON, (Verbal) I move that the City Clerk be instructed � c d to regest the Board of Public Works to take up the matter of constructing a sewer on Michigan Street from Division Street to La Salle Avenue. ( Application for the setting of a billboard on Foots 11 & 12 Bowman Add. J on South Michigan Street, was ajproved by the Board. Communication and Petition received from residents ' on ,East Bowman St -eet 1 and vicinity, asking to have the SOtth Michigan Street Cars stop at East Bowman St. The same was referred to the Common Council. Chief Kerr and B. F. Augusting President of the Safety Board was present before the Board at the Board's request, and the matter of enforcing Ordinance No. 1565 for cleaning ice and snow off sidewalks in the fire limits district in this City was discussed. Chief Kerr agreed to have officers notify property owners to comply with said Ordinance. The Clerk was instructed to have a map drawn shoring the fire limits district for Chief Kerr for his use in enforcing the Ordinance Petition filed with the Board for the vacation of alley running Urest from the west line of South Main Street to the alley running north sand south on the east line of the Vandalia Railroad Company's right of way in Stover and Witwer's Addition. The Board unanimously decided to set the assessment roll of awards of damages and assessments of benefits for the vacation of alley in Stover & Witwer's Addition from west line of south Main Street to the alley running north and south of the east line of the Vandalia R. R. CO's right of way under Vacation Resolution No. 132_filed on;Fvlay :T h.,1912 for a nearing on Tuesday December 22nd.1914 at 7:4 P.1A. The Clerk was instructed to notify Mr. Edwin C. Witwer and Rosa G. Witwer the pally interested property holders of such hearing by letter. j Com munication received from the Lang Broom Company. Same read and ,J referred to the Street Commissioner. All members present. Hearing had on assessment roll and final estimate for -Resurfacing pavement on i�arion Street from St. Joseph St. to Lot 5 H. & W. Addition, Under Improvement Resolutio No. 335. In the City of South Bend, Indiana. In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed. The Board therefore find that the property assessed in roll filed November 17th., 1914 is benefited in the amount of assessments as shoim on said rolls, and the Board further': find that the assessments rolls filed November 17th.,1914 and the final estimate allowed November 17th.,1914 should be and the same are hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. Hearing had on assessment roll and final estimate for Asphalt Pavement on Cottage Grove Avenue from Portage Avenue to Michigan Avenue, under Improvement Resolution No. 335. In the City of South Bend, Indiana. In the above matter remonstrators appeared, but no remonstrances were filed. The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said roll filed November 17th. is benefited in the amount of assessments as showi on said rolls, and the Board further fi-d that the assess . -.Lent roll filed November 17th.,1914 and the final estimate allowed November 17th.,1914 should be and the same are her4y in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. Hearing on assessment roll and final estimate for pipe sewer on /B-roadway from Bowman Creek Trunk sewer to Carroll Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 320. In the City of Soutri Bend, Indiana. In the above matter a remonstrator appeared but no written remonstrances were filed. The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said rolls filed October 27th. ,1914 is benefitted in the amount of assessments as shown on said rolls, and the Board further rind that the assessments roll filed October 27ta.,1914 and the final estimate allowed October 27th.,1914 should be and the sam e are hereby in all things rati- fied,, confirmed and approved. Hearing had on assessment oll and final estimate for pipe sewer on Dubail Avenue from Carroll Street to Mix i Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 332 In the City of South Bend, IndiaLna. In the above matter remonstrators appeared but no remonstrances were filed. The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said r011 filed December lst.1914 is benefited in the amount of assessments as shr�,An on said rolls, and the Board further find that the assessment roll filed December lst.,1914 an(, the final estimate' allowed December lst.,1914 should be and the same are hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. By unanimous consent the Board decided to withold $100.00 from the Contractors, De Peape & Coussens, until the street was put in a proper condition. Hearing had on .assessment roll and final estimate for pipe sewer on Indiana Avenue from Carroll Street to Miami Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 3'M In the City of South Bend, Indiana. In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed The Board therefore fiLd that the property assessed in said rolls filed November 24th.1914 Js benefitted in the amount of —assessor=nts as shown on said rolls, and the Board further find that he assessment roll Oiled November 24th.1914 and the final estimate allowed November 24th.,1914 should be and the same are hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. Property owner living on Johnson Street appeared before the Board asking for a, light to be placed on above mentioned street near Vassar Avenue. T. Le Board informed them they would take a trip out to look over the above situation. At the request of propety olmers residing on West Washington Ave. and Chicago Avenue, the Street Commissioner was instructed by the Board to place cinders on the above mentioned streets. -
