Board met in regular session at 10:00 A.M. All members present.
Bids were received, opened and read for pipe sewer on Eddy, Parry, Francis
and Division Street. The samw were referred to the City Engineer for tabulation to be
reported back at 7:45 P.M. this 20th., day of October,l914.
Communication received, read and placed on file From the Indiana & Michigan
Electric Company in regard to changing of lamps No. 145 and 760. The Board ordered the
Company notified to leave the above poles standing until further notice.

Petition filed with the Board for a pipe sewer on South Fellows Street from
Dubail Avenue to the lst. alley south. T,.e same was referred to the City Civil Engineer
for investigation.
The following petitions were receivedread and placed on file.
Ligrit at the Corner of E. Keasey Street and South Marietta Street.
Light at the Corner of Rush Street and Wenger Street.
Light on Smith Street . One light on Smith and Wall Street and One light
v on Smith and Hastings Street.
Mr. Andrus of the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company appeared before the
Board and discussed the underground wiring. Mr. Beaning, pole and wire inspector was
instructed to take charge of the underground work and to follow up the men installing
the underground wires and cables. The Indiana & Michigan Electric Company were in—
structed to file notices of places where they expected to work so that Mr. Beaning could
follow them up.
Partial estimate allowed Matthias Feser Contractor on work on Various
Streets for the amount of................................................$29.02.
Partial estimate allowed Sues &Ackerman for pipe sewer on Terrace and
Blaine Avenue for the amount of .............. •............................... $19410.72
Engineer submitted assessment -roll of rebates due the property owners
on La Salle Avenue street railway tracks from Michigan Street to Hill for the amount of
✓ $2,602.63. The same was approved by the Board and turned over to the City Controller
to paid to the property owners.
Engineer submitted roll of rebates for changing street railway tracks
on Main Street from La Salle Avenue to Tashi ngt on Avenue for the amovint of $1, 635.46
vinich was turned over to the City Controller to be paid to the property owners.
Engineer filed assessment roll and final estimate for Trunk sewer on
f Leer Street and Calvert Street From St. Joseph River to Vernon Street, under Improve—
ment resolution No. 309. In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
Resolved, that notices as to the amounts of assessments be published on
the 23rd. day of October 1914 and on the 30th., day of Octo"er,1914 in the South Bend
Daily Tribune, stating that his Board will give a hearing on the amount of such assess—
ments at its office in the City Hall on the loth., day of lovember,1914 at 7:45 P.M.
Resolved tarther, that the entire work under the above contract be accepte
and approved and the final estmate thereon Ellowed. Notice of this resolution shall be
published on the 23d. day of Oetober,1914 and on the 30th., day of October,1914 in the
South Bend Daily Tribune, stating that this Board will give a hearing on the acceptance
of such work at its office in the City Hall on the 10th., day of November,1914 at 7:45 P.M.
Board ordered that City Contractor be ordered to put in extension
at northwest corner of Yukon Avenue and Portage Avenue.
Street Commissioner reported on notice filed by Councilman Seifert
with reference to light on Eddy Street being north north about 50 feet so as to give light
into alley m nning East and West between Eddy and Parry St. The Board ordered the
same changed.

f Communication received from' the Malleable Steel Range Company relative to
the building of the Cherry Street sewer. The same was read and placed"on file. Clerk
instructed to answer same.
Communication from L. J. Montgomery Supt. of Public -Schools relative to
,raking connections with the Studebaker School and the Dubail Avenue pipe sewer. The
same was read and the Clerk ws instructed to Notify Mr. Montgomery that until the
Large Bovnan Creek Trunk sewer was completed and accepted by the City, it would be
impossibale to grant him permission to make the above connection, which time will be
within the next 60 days.

Hearing had on IMprovement Resolution No. 361 for pavement on Division
Street from Michigan Street to St. Joseph,Street, in the City of South Bend, Indiana.
Upon said hearing Mr. Jas. Schuler, Mr. Haugbon property owners and
iVAr. W. G. Crabill attorney for the Grand Trunk Western- Ry Company and engineer for said
Ry. Company appeared before the Board. The Board decided to take the above matter under
adv ivement until Tuesday November 3rd.,191A. at 7:45 P.M.
Hearing had on Improvement Resoluion No. 362 for pipe sewer on College
,/Street from Lincoln Way West to Vassar Avenue In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
Upon said hearing no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were
filed. And the Board lffeing fully adivsed in the premises, decides that the benefits to
property liable -to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the estimated cost of
the same, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on
said(resolution as orginall3r adopted, and the same is hereby in all things ratified,
confirmed and approved.
Resolved further, that notices be published on the 23rd. da y of
October,1914 and on the 30th., day of October,1914 in a newspaper of general circulation
in said City, stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said
improvements up to 10:00 A.M. on the loth., day of November 1914. The Board reserves the
right to reject any and all bids.

Deferred hearing had on Pipe sewer on Division Street from Meade St.
to Olive Street, In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
Upon said hearing no remonstrators appeared and no further remonstrance
` was filed. The Board after due consideration decided to defer all action on the above

sewer until Tuesday April 6th.,1915 at 7:45 P.M. Notice to be sent to property owners
in time for hearing.)
Hearing had on Improvement Resolution No. 363 for pipe sewer on
Indiana Avenue and Marine Street from Miami Street to Bowman Street, In the Cty of South
Bend, Indiana.
Upon said hearing remonstrators appeared and a remonstrance was filed
against the construction of a sewer on Marine Street and the Board being fully advised in
the premises modifies the Resolution by rescinding that part melative to the construction
of the sewer on Marine Street from Indiana Avenue to Calvert Street, the property abutting
on Marine Street between said terminals to be assessed a trunk sewer benefit with the above
modification- the Board decides that the benefits to property liable to be assessed for said
improvements are equal to the estimated cost o the same, as reported by the City Civil
Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on said resolution as originally adopted, and th
same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved.
Resolved further, that notices be published on the 23rd day of October
1914-'and on the 30th., day of October,1914 in a newspaper of general circulation in said
City, Stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvements

Hearing had on assessment roll and final estimate for curb and vyalk on
Wilber Street from Longley Avenue to Michigan Avenue under IMprovement Resolution
No. 316. I nthe City of South Bend, Indiana.
In the above matter the Board decided to defer all action until Wednesday
October 21st.,1914 at ll:30 A.M. until the City Engineer reported on the same.
f Bond and contract for the pipe sewer on Virginia Street from Indiana Ave
to Broadway, Under rMproveraent Resolution No. 349 signed by Staples and Ackerman
as prinicpal. and American Surety Company pf New York as sureties, was approved by
the Board.
J Contract for the pipe sewer on Eddy, Parry, Francis and Division Street
was unanimously awarded to Hoban & Roach, Contracts for the amount of ...$10,390.93
Engineer filed assessment roll and final estimate for curb and walk on
j South. side of Fox Street from Miami Street to East line of Demler Addition,
under
Improvement Resolution No. 342. In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
Resolved, that notices as to the amounts of assessments be published for
six consecutive days in the South Bend Daily Tribune, commencing on the 26th. dau
of October,1914 stating that this Board will, give a hearing.on the amount of such
assessments at its office in the City Hall on the 10th., day of November,1914 at
7: 45 P.M.
Resolved further, that the entire work under the dove contract be acceptd
and approved and the final estimate thereon allowed. Notice of this resolution shall
be published on the 26th. day of October,1914 in the South Bend Daily Tribune-, stating
that this Board will give a nearing on the acceptance of such work at is office in
the City hall on the loth., day of November,1914 at 7:45 P.M.
Petition presented to the Board by Councilman Win. Goebel fo r a light
at the corner of E. Keasey Street and South Fellows Street. The same was read and
placed on file.
The Board ordered that a copy of the lighting contract sub mitted by
the Indiana & Michigan Elec . Company for additional lights in the• City be turned
over to the City Attorney for alterations.
