Board met in regular session at 11 30 A.M. All members present.
Mr. Ireland appeared before the Board in regard to the placing If a
light, at the alley between Fain and Lafayette Street on La Salle Avenue, also the
telephone and telegraph poles in alley. The Board took the above matter under con—
sideration*
Bid s were received, opened and read for pipe sewer on Miltone Avow@
1/ from High Street to Miami Street. Pipe sewer on Virginia Street from Indiana, Avenue to
Broadway . Trunk sewer on' High Street from Dayton Street to Bowman Street. PavBment
on Cottage Grove Avenue from Grand View to Oak Street. The same were referred to City
Civil Engineer for tabulation to be peported back —at 7:45 P.M. this 13th. , day of Oct. ,191d.
Bond and contract for the grading of Dubail Avenue From High Street to
,/Dale' Avenue, under Improvement Resolution No. 346, signed by H. L. Davis as principal
and The London & Lancashire Guarantee and Accident eo. as sureties, v,as approved by the
Board.
Bond and contract for pavement on Johnson Street from Michigan Avenue .o
/to Va sar Avenue, under Improvement Resolution No. 343, signed by Harry N.,Barnes as
principal a-K1 London & Lancashire Guarantee & Accident Co. as sureties, was approved by
the Board.

Board met in regular session at 7:45 P.M. All members present.
j Hearing given on Improvement Resolution No. - 359 for the pope sewer on
Division Street from Meade Street to Olive Street', In the City of South Bend,
Indiana.
Upon -said hearing remonstrators appeared and a remontrance was filed by
Attorney Harry W. 'Nair, appearing for the Singer Mfg. -Company. The Board after due
consideration decided to take the above mentioned matter, under advisement until
Tuesday October 20th.,1914. at 745 P.M.
Hearing given on Improvement Resolution No. 359 for pipe sewer on
Grant Street fro m Huron Street to Division St. In tie City of South Bend., Indiana.

Upon said hearing remonstrators appeared and a written remonstrance was
filed the Board. The Board being Fully advised in the premises, decides that the p
property liable to be assessed for said improvements are. equal to the estimated cost
of the same, as reported by the City Civil'Engineer, and thereupon takes final
action on said resolution as originall-adopted, and the same is hereby in all tx}ings
ratified, confirmed and aproved. (Not,4 : With the understanding that tae bids were to -
be received in the sp rng of 1915.)
Resolved further, that notices be published on the llth. day of March,
1915 and on the 1£9th., day of March 1915 in a newspaper of general circulation in s d
said City, stating that the Board will receive bids for the construction of said
improvement up to 10:00 A.M. on the 30th.1, day of March,1915. The Board reser ves
the right to reject any and all bids.
Hearing given on Improvement Resolution No. 360 for pipe sewer on
f Nineteenth Street From St. Jeeph River to Mishawaka Avenue. In the City of South
Bend, Indian,.
Upon �a,id heari.n�-- remonstrators appeared and a written remonstrance
was filed. The Board decided-to;take the'above.matter under advisement to be decided
on TuesraybOctober 20th.,1914. at 7:45 P.M.
J Fetition filed with the Board for brick pavement on Cottage Grve
Avenue from Grand View Avenue to Oak Street. The same was read and filed.
The Board by unanimous consent decided to award the contract for
pavement on Cottage Grove Avenue from Grand View to Oak Street to Harry N. Barnes,
with Nelsonville brick. at $1.49 per sq. yd.
By unanimous consentthe Board awarded the contract for Pipe sewer
J on Virginia Street from Indiana Avenue to Broadway to Staples and Ackerman for
the amount of................$12000.50
All bids were rejected on the Trunk sewer on High Street from
Dayton Street to Bowman Street, Same being higher than the estimate. The Board
ordered the same readvertised. Resolved further that notices be published on the
15th. day of Octber21914, and on the 22nd. day of October 1914 A paper of general
cir ulation in said City, stating that t_.is Board will receive bids for the con—
struction of said improvement up to 10;00. A. M. on the 3rd. day of November,
1914 . The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
All bids on pipe sewer on Milton Avenue from High Street to Miami St.
were , re je.eted and .'ordered, advertized. the scare as High- Street. trunk sewer,bids to
be received on the 3rd. day of November,1914 at 10:00 A.M.
In regard to the hearing on the assessment roll for cement curb and
walk on Wilber Street from Longely Avenue to Michigan Avenue,under Improvement
Resolution No. 316. The same was deferred until Tuesday Actober TOth.,1914 at
7:45 P.M.

on Cottage Grove Avenue from Michigan Avenue to Portage Avenue, under Improvement
Resolution No. 345. In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
Resolved, that notices as to the amounts of assessments be published for
six consecutive days in the South Bend Daily Tribune, commencing on the 19th., day
of October,1914 stating that this Board will give a hearing on the amount -.of such assess—
ments at its office in the City Hall on the 3rd. day of November,1914'at 7:45 P.M.
Resolved further that the entire work under the above contract be
accepted and approved and the final estimate thereon allowed. Notice .of this resOlution
shall be published on the 19th., day of October,1914 in the South Bend Daily Tribune .

No. 344. In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
Resolved, that notices as to the amounts of assessments be published
for six consecutive days in the Sutn Bend Daily Tribune commencing on the 19th., day
of October,1914 stating that this Board will give a hearing -on the amount of such assess
ment at its office in the City Hall on the 3rd. day of Govember,1914 at 7:45 P.M.
Resolved 'further, that the entire w rk under the above contract be
accepted and app roved gnd the final estimate thereon allowed. Notice of this resolution
shall be published on the 19th., day of October 1914 in the South. Bend Daily Tribune,
stating that this Board will give a hearing on the acceptance of such work at its office
in the City Hall on the 3rd. day of November,1914 at 7:45 P.M.

Chippewa Avenue and one between Donmoyer Avenue and South Michigan St,

Petition for a light at the corner of Kalamara and Hill Streets.
� Petition for a light at corner of Haney Avenue and South St.
Joseph St.
v In regard to moving light at 81.2 W. Jefferson Street, the same was
placed on file.
Petition filed with the Board from property owners with reference
to moving of a billboard on South Bend Avenue between St. Peter Street and Notre
Dame Avenue. The same was read and referred to the inspector to report on at next
meeting. Tuesday October 20th.,1914. at LO;)O A.M.
The City Civil Engineer submitted partial estimate and the same was
allowed to Stewart —Sheets Company on the Bowman Creek Trunk sewer -for the amount
of .................$3,694.44
Plat of Willowdale Bub —Division of Lots 37,39,39.40 & 41 Oak Park
1st. add. was approved by the Board.
Pole and wire inspector made report on poles at rear of 211
W. La Salle Avenue. The same was read and placed on file.
M. Feser presented note stating he owed W. Metz Eight Dollars and
forty cents. The same was referred to the City Controller.
Co'tract and Bond between Hoban & Roach and J. C. Birdsell and
J F. A. Miller for the paving of Sunnyside Avenue with concrete, was approved by the Board

`` Mr. A. Seifert appeared before the Board and took up the matter of a
drinking fountain on the east side. The Board informed him this matter would be
taken up in, the Spring -of 1915 and given due consideration.
