Bids were received. opened and read for grade on- Duba.il Avenue from High
, .Street to Dale Avenue. The same viere referred to the City Engineer for -tabulation.
Communication received from the Welsbach Street Lighting Company of
/America, The same wasread and placed on file.
Partial estimate allowed L. H. Webster,Contractor on the Indiana Avenue
✓ Pipe sewer, for the amount of ....... .................. ........ ..............1,630.09
Communication received frock the Indiana & Michigan Elea. Company in regard
V1 to the candle power of ligt,ts on Elder Street. The same was read and placed on file.
Communication received from the Western Union Telegraph Company relative
/to Poi-i7,; unde.r�c-!round. The same was read and referred to the City Attorney to answer.
Communication received from the Burdick Enamel Sign Co. . The same was
read and _referred to the Street Commissioner.
Communication received from Simplex Wire & Cable Company. The same was
read and placed on file.
Communication received from J... P.Ohmer relative to payment on the Mishawaka
Avenue trunk sewer. The same was read and planed on file.
Pole and Wire Inspector reported on Home Telephone guy wire at
714 ,Forest Avenue. The same was read and placed on file.
City Cemetery Sexton Geo. M. Urey, presented a report of the financial
J standing of the City Cemetery Dept. up to Oct. lst.,1914. The same was filed.
Partial estimate allowed DepPeape & Coussens Contractors on the Mishwwaka
Avenue Trunk sewer for the amount of..........................:..............$5,053.92
Board ordered that the intersection at the Southwest corner of Division
Street and Michigan St be repaired by the City Contractors, M. Feser.
In regard to the complaint ;nude by Councelman Wm. Goebel of the 7th.
Ward about vacated poles in the City.belonging to the Home Telephone Company, the pole
and wire inspector reported on the same and the Board ordered that a notice be sent to
the South Bend Home Telephone Company to remove all unused poles on Kemble Avenue also
any other part of the City.

Hearing given on Assessment roll and final estimate for Drunk sewer on -
Mishawaka Avenue from lit. Joseph River to Sixteenth Street, under Improvement
Resolution No. 245. In the City of Sout.r. Bend, Indiana.
In the above matter property oirners appeared and remonstrated a=•ai.nst
assessments, a remonstrance was filed by Attorney A. L. Hubbard, representing,
J.C.Birdsell, Bryron A. Birdsell and Henry S. Towle. After due consideration
the Board. decided to defer all action on said roll until Tuesday October 13th,,1914
at 7:45 P.M.

Resolution No. 297. In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrance was
filed. The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said rolls filed
September 15th.-21914. is benefitted in the amount of assessments as shown on said
rolls, and the Board further find that the assessment rolls filed Sept.15th.,1914
and the final estimate allowed Sept.15th.21914 should be and the same are hereby in
all things ratified, coAfir med and approved.

In the above matter no remonstratorss appeared and no remonstrance
filed. The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said rolls filed
September 1521914 is-benefitted in the amount of assessments as shown on said
rolls and the Board further find that the assessment rolls filed September 15th.,
1914 and the final estimated allowed September 15th.21914 should be and. the same
are hereby in all things ratified , confirmed and approved.

on Wilber Street from Longley Avenue to Michigan Avenue, under Improvement Resolutin
No. 316. In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
In the above matter a remonstrator appeared, but no remonstrance was
filed. The Board deferred all action on said roll until Tuesday October 13th.,
1914 at 7:45 P.M.

Hearing given on Condemnation Resolution No. 36 :for the opening of
an alley between Notre Dame Avenue and St. Peter Street from Corby Street to Howard St.
Tn.the City of,South Bend,Indiana•
In the above matter property owners appeared and remonstrated against
said opening, but no written remonstrance was filed. All remonstrances were over—
ruled and thereupon, being Fully advised in the matter the Board takes final action
on said resolution, confirming without modification,'all former action taken on the same.
The. Board therefor declares the above property in all things condemned
and appropriated for public use, the Board now orders that a list' or roll be prepared
of all the owners or holders of property and of vaulable interests therein sought to be
6aken or to be injuriously affected, which said list of roll shall also describe the
property beneficially affected.
The following resolution was approved by the Board.
The City Civil Engineer having repotted, in the matter of the Improve—
ment. -of the roadway of Johnson Street from Michigan Avenue to Vassar Avenue, under
Improvement Resolution No. 343,1914. that no petition was filed by the resident free—
holders whose property abuts upon said street asking to have the street paved with any
other kind of material other than the kind specified by the Board, which the Board finds
is true_, and improvement resolution No. 343,1914, heretofore adopted is in all things
approved and confirmed, said portion of said Joh nson Street ie hereby ordered improved
with Nelsonville Brick, in accordance with the plans and specifications heretofore
adopted. _

BY Unanimous consent of the Board the contract for the pavement on
Johnson Street from Mich. Ave. to Vassar, under Improvement Resolution No. 343. 1914
was awarded to H. U. Barnes with Nelsonville Brick.
The City, -Civil Engineer filed the following estimated costs .

The Board decided to have Boulevard Lights on Vistula Avenue and
Sample Street to Ernsperger Street in stead of arcs. Also beginning at the intersection
of Portage Avenue and Hudson Avenue;tnence north on Hudson Avenue to Riverside Drive;
thence on Riverside Drive to Lafayette Street; thence south on Lafayette Street to
Monroe Street (where tungsten: lights are now located.)
By unanimous consent of the Board the dontract for the grading of
�Dubail Avenue from Hign Street to Bale Avenue, was awarded to H. L. Davis for the
amount of $1,277.16

the Vacation of certain property under Vaeati.on` Resolution No,� 23. for the.
vacation or a part of William Street From 3.1arion Street to Navarre Street. In the
City of South Bend, Indiana., which list includes the names of the owners,and holdev
of property and of. interests therein sought to be taken or beneficially or in juriou-o
ly effected, and the descript-ii..on of the several pieces. of property which is affected
by the said vacation proceedings.
