Barnes with "concrete,anount of concrete ........ ....................$'849.65 JPetition filed with the Board for a pipe sewer on Corby Street from St. Louis Street to Niles Avenue. The same was read and referred to the City Civil Engineer for investigation. Petition filed with the Board for the opening oa Ottowa, Court at the J Lake SlZore right of *ay to Indiana Avenue. The same rows - read,and all -action was deferred on the same until Tuesday June ?-nd.,1914 at 7:45 P.M. Communication received from the Health Board relative to the condition J of'the sewer at"the head of Leland Avenue. The same was read and placed on file. Petition and communication received relative to the unhealthy condi— tion-ofthe Leland Avenue sewer where it empties into the river. The same was read and placed on file. Gentlem en: — I herewith submit the estimated cost of the pipe sewer improvement in Broadway and High. Street from the Bowman Creek Trunk sewer to Carroll Street at $72100.00 Respectfully submitted., IT4. S. MOORE City Engineer Permission was granted the Central Union Telephone Company to set one thirty four (34) foot pole in alley between Wenger and. Pennsylvania , Felows and Rush Streets on the south side of alley. Conimunicatio-i received from the Johnson Construction Company of Criicago, relative to check placed with bid on Cedar Street. The same was ordered returned. E6v: . , Plat of Buyssets Sub. of Lot 20 and the west half of lot 19 in Ruck-mants Sub. of Bank Out Lot Number 75, was approved by the Board. The Street Commissioner made the following re'Dorts, and the Board approved of same. Intersections needed at N. E. Corner of Linden Avenue nd Birdsell Street. Also N. ITT. corner of Linden Avenue, and. Walnut Sts. broken up. Defective walk at 745 Portage Avenue, caused by 1 block ofFeenent'wal_k Defective sidewalks at 929-,31-G30-1040-1024-1042 West Oak: Street.. Pole and Wire Inspector made a report on the billboard on South Michigan V/ Street on vacant lmts No. 17,15 and 1717. This billboard. if 16 feet from building line and 9 feet 5 inches from new dwelling No.1711. south Michigan Street. The same filed. Permission granted the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company to set the J following poles subject to the City Ordinance. To replace pole JIM 2002 at the northeast corner of the first alley north of Michigan Avenue and Wood Street, and pole IM 2005 about 120, south of pole JIM 2002, with 40' poles, to clear the shade trees on Wood Street with wires. Both poles are inside the underground district. after Jan.lst.1915. Permission granted the Chicago, South Bend & Northern Indiana Ry. Co., to set poles as following: - To set two poles on Mishawaka Ave. � between Emerson Street and. Sample St., to be used jointly with the Home End Bell Telephone Companies on the north side of Mishawaka Avenue. These to be set sub ,ect to the City Ordinance, pertaining to the under- / . ground district. Communication received relative to Street Signs manufactured by the Cement Manufacturing Co. The same was read and referred to the Street Commissioner. LOCAL SEWER IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION N0. 320. Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, County of St. Joseph, State of Indiana. That the construction of a local serer, intended and adapted onlu for local use by the property holders whose property abuts thereonjand not intended or adapted for receiving sewerage from collateral drains, beaand the same is hereby ordered in and along BROADINAY AND HIGH STREET FROM THE B0744AN CREEK TRUNK SEWER TO CARROLL STREET,viz:- Beginning at a point in Broadway where the Bowman Creek Trunk sewer r crosses said Broadway; thence west along the center line of Broadway to the center of High Street with a 2A inch vitrified pipe sewer; thence north along the center of High Street to the center of Broadway running viest with an 18 inch vitrified pipe sewer; thence west al ong the center of Broadway to the center of Rush Street frith an 18 inch vitrified pipe sewer; thence still west along the center of said Broadway to the center of Carroll Street with a 15 incri vitrified pipe sewer. Together with the necessary manholes, inlets, conduits and house connections to the curb line along the line of said improvement. And such improvement is now ordered, and said sewer, with all its appur- tenances shall be constructed with the profile and specifications now on rile in the office of .the Department of Public Works of said City. The cost of said improvement shall be apportioned against and paid by the property holders whose property abuts thereon; a.ao upon the City of South Bend if the City is benefited by said improvement, all according to the method and manner provided for in Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, en- titled "An Act Concerning Municipal Corporations," approved .Larch 6,1005. hssessments, if deferred, are to be paid in ten equal annual installments with interest at the rate of S x per cent per annum. A bond or bonds shall be issued to the contractor in payment for such work unless the property owners pay said assessments before said bond or bonds are issued. Under no circumstances shall the City of South Bend be or be held responsible for any sum or sums due from said property owner or owners for said work or for the collection of same, or for the 08ynent of any bond or bonds, certificate or certificates issued to sai contractor in payment for such work, except for such moneys as shall have been actually 261 received by the City from the assessments for such improvement, or such moneys as said City .is by said above entitled Act required to pay. All proceedings had, and work done in the making of said improvement, assessment of property,, collections of assess- ments and issuance of bonds therefor, shall be as provided for in said above entitled Act. Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 2nd. clay of June, 1914 and on the gbh., day of June,1914 in the South Bend Daily News -Times. This Board *ill give a hearing on this resolution at its o�4fice in the City Hall on tjie 30th:, day of June,1914 at 7:45 P.M. Adopted this 29th., day of May,1914. BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS. LOCAL SETTER IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 321. J Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend,County of St. Joseph , State of Indiana. That the construction of a local sewer, intended and adapted only for local use by the property holders whose property abuts thereon aid not intendend or adapted for receiving sewerage from collateral drains, and be and the same is, hereby ordered in and along.DONA.LD STREET FROM MICHIGAN STREET TO WI.'TWER AVENUE, viz: - Beginning at the intersection of Fiitwer Avenue and Donald Street; them thence east along the center line of Donald. Street to a point .100 feet east of the east line of Michigan. Street with a 12 inch vitrified pipe sewer. Together with the necessary manholes, inlets, conduits and house connections to the curb line along the line of said improvement. And such improvement is now ordered, and said sewer, with all its appurtenances shall be constructed in accordance with the profile and specifications now on file in the office of the Department of Public Works of said City. The cost of said improvement shall be apportioned against and paid by the property holders whose p--operty abuts thereon, and upon the City of South Bend if the City is benefited by' said improvement, all according to the meti'lod andmannerprovidedfor in Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled "An Act Concerning Municipal Cor- portions," approved °March 671905.
