To the Honorab le Board of Publi c Safety.
Gentlemen:- I,here�•rith, submit to you the follotiving charges
against Officer John r"yer.
That the said Officer T,�yer is guilty of neglect of dut9 in
having �ailed to appear in police court on several occasions
hen he had been noti�ied to be in court. This complaint is
ade against thi s of�icer by Judge A1 ,Y. �iosinski of the
City Court. �

Hosi syi were sv�orn in as witnesses in the case.

Chief Kuespert was asked to substantiate his charges, r�hich he did
stating that in his mind Officer P��yer was not only guilty of '�Neglect
of Duty" as set forth in the Chief' s complaint and ma.de to him by
Judge A. �FJ. Hosinski , but was al.so guilty o� "Conduct unbecoming an
officer'' in view o� the fact he was warned by the Board, just a
month before when he was fined. Chie� huespert believed Officer 2.�:yer
guilty of insubordination.
Judge Hosinski testified and in his testimony stated he �as not
prejudiced against Officer T;gyer but to the contrary �aas on friendly
terms v�ith him and that it was not his purpose to embarrass or in
any v�ray be responsible for any officer being� discharged or fined,
or in any v�ay reprimanded by th� Board, but in this particular
case felt it his .duty as Judge of the City Court to report the
existing coriditions. Judge Hosinski related his complaint to the
Board stating that• on numerous oceasions ��hen' Officer r,iyer was
ordered �o appear in Court as a State ' s 1�itness and arresting
officer, he vaas late for Court and on several occasions did not
appear at all.
�fter Judge Hosinski completed his testimony Officer Ziyer was
given the ri�ht to state his defense and he admitted the charges,
bu� stated he could not understand tivhy he should be prosicuted for
� the charges. Off icer ��yer vras questioned by I"r. Long and ?:'r. Budd,
i`embers of the Board, and after some deliberation �the Board
announced their. verdict. After hearin; the above testimoniseconded
Board found Officer ��yer guilty and on motion of �Tr. Zong,
by TTr. Gadacz, Officer John C. 2,Zyer v�as dismissed from tY�e Police
Force to be 'effeetive immediately.
On motion of T,�r. G�.dacz, seconded by T�`r. Zong, meeting ad�ourned
at eleven o' clock A.P:I.
