Sealer Burns presented report of Twenty-third National Con�erence
o� '+9ei ts and �teasures held in :'dashington, D. C. , June 4th, 5th and
6th, w ich he attended. Report �ras read and ordered placed on file.
�,gr. udd instructed Sealer Burns to make rigid investigation of
all ga oline pumps on account of rumors that short measure has been
in pra tice for some time.
On otion o� r:ir. Gadacz, second by r"r. Zong, �:�r. Burns was
instru ted to raise the public seales rate from .10�` per ton to a
minim o� .25� and .10;� thereafter. The new rate to be e�fective
July 1 t, 1930. .

Upo recommendation oP Chief Lenon, ��m P. Downes was ordered to
attend the Uniform Traffie Con�erence to be held in Indianapolis
Tuesda , morning, June 17th, and was instructed to render a complete
report upon his return.
The �ollowing is a report of Unif orm Traffic ConPerence held in
Indian polis Jnne .l7th by Hoosier State Automobile Assoeiation, Indiana
1!2unici al Zeague , and Indiana Association of Chie�s of Police :

�r. Noblet called on r:qayor J. s�1. �icCarty of ��ashington, who i s
Vice-P esident of the I�,�nnicipal League. r�r. ��cCarty spoke brieYly
on the efforts of P��unicipal I,eague, also praised the Hoosier Auto-
mobile 1Lssoeiation Por their ef�orts in the past. He eondemned
reckle s and drunken drivers, stating that the law governing same
was to lenient. Chairman Noblet explained the proposed Uniform
Traf�i Code and then introduced ��r. Rolly Benson, President oP the
In�ian Associa tion of Chie�s of Police.
b'r. Benson gave his views on TTniform CQ�atrol and stated that in
his op nion it would be a great asset to the State of Ind.iana, tha.t
it wou d not only be more convenient for the motorists, but cvould
decrea e the violation of �raffic rules.

Chairman Noblet praised former Secretary of State , 2�`r. F. E. Bchort-
emeier, for his co-operation with these three organizations when he
was in office, and explained how P,2r. Sohortemeier had labored to enforoe
Uniform Traffic Code. He then praised and introduced �r. Otto G.
Fi�ield, present Secretary o� State. I��r. Fi�ield reviewed �he atate-
ment of the gentleman preeeding him and explained his personal views
in the matter, atating that i� these organizations eould be responsib le
for enacting sueh a code, it would be a wonderful asset, not only to
motorists, but to the entire public oP Indiana.
Mr: Noblet then announced that the business of the day would be taken
up at onee and would be direeted by ��r. F. �. Schortemeier. �r. .
Schortemeier then assuming the chair again reviewed the Uniform �t'raffic
Code section by section.
�fter Yurther consideration it was deeided to adopt the,proposed
Uniform Code. Mr�. Sohortemeier stated that out of 460 towns in the
State o� Indiana at least 50°� have no stty ordinanves, and not one ,
city in the State has anything to eompare with the proposed IIniform
Traffic Code. �
It was at this point that the representative �rom South Bend inform-
ed Pdr. Schortmeier that our traffic code was complete in every respeot
to the proposed Uniform Code and in some instances was more complete.

Upon motion of 2.';r. Long, second by �,�r. Gada�z, it was so ordered
that four� - fifteen minute waiting zones be installed:

On motion o� ��r. Long, second by E2r. Gadacz it was so ordered that
meetin� be ad�journed.
