HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/02/1928 Board of Public Safety MinutesThe regular weekly meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held in the Boards office Monday July 2nd., 1928 11eeting was called to, order at 4:00 P.11. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. FIRE DEPT. Fire Dept. bills were approved and ordered aid. Bids for coal in responce to the adds in th� news papers were rec� ed, opened and tabulated. Iulotion prevailed that a. special meeting be held at 1I;30 td AA ?jrd Upon receiving requests for the Police And Firemens Band to play at different funtions a motion prevailed that the Police and Firemens band should not be allowed to furnish music for any ocea.sion except. at affairs sponsored by the Police Dept., Fire Dept. and purely civic funtions. ELECTRICAL DEPT. Electrical Dept. bills were approved and ordered paid. uLotion prevailed that the weekly report of Supt. Qualls for the week ending July lst. be accepted and order::d. placed on filik. DEPT. OF WEIGHTS & I;LEA.SURES City Sealer bills were approved and orderd paid. Motion ptevailed-that the weekly report of City Sealer Burns for the w.ek ending June 30th. be accepted and ordered placed on file. POLICE DEPT Police Dept. bills were approved and orders. paid. Motion prevailed that the resigination of Officer John W. Vernon be accepted <.s of July 2nd.,'1928.. The following resolutions were passed and c3�/ek was.instructed to send a copy of the resolutions to the family of former President of the Board of Public Safety 1 r. W.O.Davies. V'V'HEREAS; The Board of Public Safety of the City of South Bend in its regular session this 2nd day of July 1923 with regret, has heard the news of the death of 'v1.O.Davies, former President of theis Board; and '-,`4'HEREAS, during his incumbancy;in office has shown himself an able executive and fearless in the preformance of his duty; and 1,1HEREAS as a citizen he has shown exampliary qualities in the fullest extent.; hterefor BE IT RESOLVED that in honor of the memory of the said W.O. Davies t le flag be at half mast on all municipial buildings; and BE IT FURTHER RESMLVED that a platoon of police and firemen be delegated to attend the last rites of the said W.O.Da.vies if desired by member of Otis family; ' and BE IT FU%CTH111R RESOLVED, that these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of this Board, end a copy thereof transmitted to the family of the deceased BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY ( Signed ) B.J.Engeldrum President.
