MEETING Tanuary 13, 1936
Regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday,
Tanuary-13, 1936 at 9:00 A. M. All members were present.
Minutes of previous meeting were read'and approved.
Requisitions numbers 08814 to 08826, inclusive, were approved.
Claims in the amount of 4390.92 were approved and ordered paid, also,
salaries amounting to $13.44.

FIRE DEPARTMENT - Chief Freeh present:
It Was moved by Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr. Woodward and un-
animously carried that Mr. Boyd Lower., a fireman injured recently in a
collision with a street car and permanently incapacitated, beplaced
on pension beginning February 1st.

It was moved by Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr. Woodward and
unanimously carried that the Fire Chief be authorized to purchase
search light equipment, this be made up of the following:
1 - Model R Generator, 1500 Watt and 110 Volt
2 - Search Light Lamps, 500 Watt
1 - Search Light Lamp, 250 Watt
200 Ft. of Cord
Total cost $450.00.
A communication was received from Eli F. Seebirt in reference to
Otto Pfaffenbach on the Fire Department, stating that Harry L. Davis
had secured a judgment against the fireman in the amount of 4200.00
and that nothing had been paid on this. The matter was referred to
the Fire Chief to bring the matter to the fireman's attention and to
report to the Board later.
Acommunication was received from F. R. Nicholas Carter, Secretary
of the Board of Health, in which he advised that it was a pleasure to
be of service during the recent severe fire on Michigan Street and
that he expected no fee for his services.
POLICE DEPARTMENT - Assistant Chief Diedrich present:
A discussion was had with reference to the fire hazard in front
of the Palace Theatre and, after consulting Fire Chief as well as the
Assistant Chief of Police, it was moved by Mr. Anderson, seconded by
Mr. Woodward and unanimously carried that the hazard at point mentioned
be removed by establishing a no parking zone in front of the entrances
and It was also arranged that firemen are

It was regularly moved, seconded and carried that Sergeant Bert
Olmstead be authorized to give instructions t officers on the Police
Force in disarmament, this to be done at the convenience of the
Sergeant.and the officers.
The matter of purchasing a chair stretcher was discussed and the
indicated Assistant Chief of Police i it would be of very material

Applications for position on the Police Department_ were presented
by the following and ordered placed on file: Murray C. Thomas,
Vernum IAcGowen and Francis Coffman.
ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - Mr. Qualls present:
Mr. Qualls reported at length with reference to the Convention
at LaFayette on January 9th and 10th.
The meeting adjourned at 11:00 A. M.
