-Regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Mon
October 21, 1935 at 8:30 A. M. Mr. Hunter was absent. day,
Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved.
Requisitions bearin numbers 08677 to 08685, inclusive:, were approved.
Claims in the amount of 1370.74, from the following suppliers, were
approved and ordered paid.

ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - Mr. Qualls present:
The communication from the Bendix Products Corporation, requesting a
stop light at Bendix Drive 'and Goodland Avenue, which had previously been
referred to Mr. Qualls and Mr. Miller of the Engineering Department, was
again referred to Mr. Qualls for further investigation and recommendation.
Mr. Miller's report has been received by the Board.
Report of Mr. Qualls' of October 11th, in reference to illumination
at, the Bottle Neck north of North Shore Drive, was referred back to him
for further investigation and recommendation at the next meeting.
Expense account of Mr. F. J. Bock for his attendance at the Radio
Convention at Indianapolis was considered by the Board and.the Secretary
was instructed to inform Mr. Bock that this would be passed if he would
furnish receipts for his bus fare and Hotel bill.
FIRE DEPARTMENT - Chief Freeh present:
Matters pertaining to the Fire Department were discussed, but there_,
being nothing of importance no action was taken.
Application for position on the Fire Department by Raymond W. Darling
was ordered placed on file.
POLICE DEPARTMENT - Chief Lane present:
A Petition from three hundred and forty nine residents -and business-
men in the vicinity of Indiana Avenue, headed by Mr. Ignatz Mittermeyer,
was presented to the Board requesting no parking, or at least not more
than fifteen minute parking, on the south side of Indiana Avenue from
Prairie Avenue to Michigan Street. Due to some contraversy and perhaps
some misrepresentation, a counter Petition was received from the Indiana
Avenue Business Men's Association requesting that no change be made in the
parking situation on Indiana Avenue. Due to this conflict of desires,--the
Board requested those present to iron out their differences and come before.
the Board with a definite understanding as to the wishes of all interested.
Petitions were ordered placed on file.
Continuation certificate in favor of Patrolman Russell D. Hampton and
Assistant Chief William Diedrich, in the Maryland Casualty Company of
Baltimore, were approved and ordered placed on file.

A Petition signed by John Buczkowski, President of the Polish-American
Central Civic Committee, requesting that the Board not consider routing
truck and bus traffic through Western Avenue for reasons set forth in the
Petition, is on file in the Board of Public Safety. He was informed that
no definite action had been taken with reference to routing bus and truck
traffic through any part of the City and that. the matter had not progress ed
far enough to make any definite statements.. I I
Chief Lane discussed with the Board the conditions prevailing in the
Police Department and minor changes which have been made in the personnel,
but there being nothing of importance, no action was taken.
The meeting adjourned at 11:15 A. M.
